Publisher's Summary

Still grieving the loss of her sister who died two years ago, the last thing Veronica "Ronnie" Locke needed was to lose her job at one of Chicago's finest restaurants and have to move back in with her parents. So when a window of opportunity opens for her - running a kitchen at a small Hawaiian hotel - she'd be crazy not to take it. The only problem is, the man running the hotel drives her crazy: Logan Shephard. It doesn't matter that he's got dark brown eyes, a tall, muscular build that's sculpted from daily surfing sessions, and a deep Australian accent that makes your toes curl. What does matter is that he's a grump, and he gets under Ronnie's skin like no one else. But the more time Ronnie spends on the island of Kauai, falling in love with the lush land and its carefree lifestyle, the closer she gets to Logan. And the closer she gets to Logan, the more she realizes she may have pegged him all wrong. Maybe it's the hot, steamy jungles or the invigorating ocean air, but soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating. There's just one major catch: the two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from. Contains mature themes.

Fantastic

There is so much about this audio that I loved. The daughter that never quite lived up to her sisters image. The man who thought he knew the way to happiness. A chance reunion that turned in a way neither predicted.

It was sweet, it was heart breaking, it was powerful. I do feel it trudged on for a little too long, but it's completely forgivable with such a strong storyline.

Emma Wilder is great. I actually loved her Australian male voice more than her female voice. It can't be easy and she makes it sound effortless.

Feel The Heat Baby!

Karina Halle is one of my favorite authors because she delivers the goods and in Heat Wave, she delivers the heat. From the first scene where Veronica approached Logan in Chicago until the very last scene in Kauai you feel the chemistry and pull between these two and know that time, distance nor family ties are going to stop this wave. I was so enthralled with these characters and the description of the scenery that I almost felt like I was there at the resort with them. I love that once Veronica and Logan gave into their feelings all that heat and chemistry turned into explosive hot sex.

Emma Wilder did an amazing job as narrator of Heat Wave. This is my first narration by her and I'm looking forward to listening to her narrations in the future.

Most definitely worth the credit. Maybe we will visit Moon Water and its staff again for another hot installment.

Slow burn with a load of heart.

I stumbled upon this book through someone’s blog featuring recommended audiobooks in my favorite genre. It was given such rave reviews by a number of people there that I decided to travel a little outside my norm and listen. I’m so glad that I gave this book a shot. I likely never would have landed on it through browsing the app alone and I know now I would have missed a great story. The characters were described with a good feel of depth and this includes those in the shadows. I found myself wanting added books about some others which I hope has or does happen. Click on this one, you won’t regret it.

Generally enjoyable. Some elements of the plot were a slight struggle. Loved the Hawian context.

Good story, brilliant narration

I’ve actually never heard such good separation of characters with one narrator. Truly excellent performance!

I tried to like it!

Well I’ve listened to over half of this story. Although the writing itself is fine the plot is so incredibly two dimensional. I kept waiting for the protagonist to get her “shit together ‘! It could have been a good ‘read’ if the story line had developed beyond the basic one set out in the beginning. Not worthy of $ or a credit.

Dreadful Aussie accent.

A story about second chances. A little repetitive about the older perfect sister/daughter and how parents can direct how children live.
