Perfect, Practical, Pragmatic Pointers!

All the First Time Dads should thank the knowledgeable author Neil Hardy for writing this invaluable book which deals with almost every aspect of parenting & fatherhood there is to know. New Dads should read this book a few times before the arrival of the baby.

What is unique about this book is that:-
- Along with practical advice like baby proofing the house, getting your car ready, buying the right car seat etc., it also helps Dads develop the right psychology ahead of the impending fatherhood and induces them to be on the right path to ensure a bright future for the baby with the whole family.
- The author has explained in great detail why certain things should to be done by the New Dads like: Holding & Carrying a baby → Develops strong bonds with the baby; Talking to the baby → Develops the language of the baby.
- Another good advice is that New Dads should step up and be good entertainers of kids during family times.
- And the best advice the author gives to New Dads is that they need to share the parenting role with Moms.

The narration of Mark Wheeler is very good.

I would whole heartedly recommend this great book not only to all would be New Dads but also to all the Dads as everyone would benefit by reading this book.

A tool every dad should own!

I really enjoyed this book and can relate to its valuable information. If only I had this book when I found out I was going to be a dad years ago, I may have avoided many first time dad mistakes. The author goes into great detail on parenting from the beginning to end. The chapter on creating the fatherhood mindset is definitely key especially for younger first time dads. Supporting your partner during the pregnancy is also key for successful parenting. I highly recommend this book to first time dads!

Narrator ruins any useful content,

Some aspects were good, useful in parts,
But massive struggle to listen through due to terrible narrator, sounded like a broken robot learning to read!

an interesting perspective on becoming a dad.

it was interesting to hear the difference in becoming a dad in America to that of a new dad in the UK. The medical aspect is very much regarding USA. In the UK our GP looks after mum, baby, ante and post natal care and our hospitals and midwives care for mum and baby during delivery. In respect of the cost of care, it falls under the NHS unless one wishes to go private. The preparations wherever you are remain the same, and the suggestions here are sensible. This is a good book for first time dad's wanting to do and be the best for their new baby.

It’s about time!

Finally someone has written a modern day book for men to explain the responsibilities and how to prepare for being a dad! It’s a lot to have a carry a baby for nine months and this book does a great job of explaining how to be a supportive partner. What’s really awesome is the book covers the importance of determining the family’s religious beliefs so the child will be centered in that belief. I also liked that the book covered what should happen after the baby gets here and strategies of dealing with the stress that comes with being a parent. This book should be handed to every “expecting” dad. 😁

A little less terrified. Lol

Yeah, I find the idea of trying to keep another human being alive... totally terrifying. But, This book def helped me ease my mind. Everyone has an opinion, but I like this book because its ideas are based on research and lots of real-life examples. I think I'm going to be referring back to this for quite a while. I'm glad I found it. Excellent narration as well. Recommend!!

First-Time Dad Guide to Better Parenthood

Given that over 50% of pregnancy in the U.S. are unplanned, I find parenting guide like this book very beneficial for new parents to plan and get their head ready for parenthood. I like how understanding and supportive the author is toward the expecting father. This book provides many of the basic knowledge parents need to know and how to prepare the home to welcome the baby. What set this book apart from other parenting book is that the book doesn’t only focus on a man’s role as a father but also his role as a husband and how the tread the new dynamics of wearing both hats. Very informative book!
