Surviving The Teenage Years

This is a wonderful book on getting through the teenage stage of life. Rebecca deals with teen's having a sense of identity and self love. She covers how to handle the anxiety created by social, emotional, and physical changes going on in their bodies. There are spelled-out strategies for handling negativity and ways of changing negative outlooks by using positive thinking and positive self talk. This book impresses upon teens the fact that they're not alone and how to seek help and build self esteem and confidence. The main theme being that there will always be challenges in life and the key, to overcoming them, is to love yourself deeply. This is a book that can help every teenager get through this particularly challenging time and blossom into a well-rounded, self-assured, responsible young adult.

The information in this book could save a teenager

I wish I had this book when I was a teenager. The most important message from this audiobook is to love yourself, think positive and not seek external validation from your peers in school, etc., who don't know you that well. Definitely not as well as your parents do if you have loving and caring parents or guardians.

I swear if a lot of teenagers read this book, there will be fewer bullying and school shootings in these schools. Public schools have gotten even more dangerous than before. I believe lack of self-love is the root of all these problems that occur in these schools (mass shootings, school shootings, rampant bullying) and adults not dealing with situations in a mature, prompt, and urgent manner.

This author understands teenagers to the tee. Every teenager should read this and every parent with a teenager should get this book for their teen. It's time for us to teach teenagers or for teenagers to know that learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all. Creativity, empathy, open-mindedness, and persistence all come along with self-love, The information in this book is life-changing and life-saving. Highly recommend!

This book should be part of the school curriculum!

I truly believe that if this book was used in schools, we would have a lot fewer unhappy teenagers. It goes through every challenge teenagers face today and gives practical, empowering solutions. If you are a teen who is feeling confused or full of social anxiety, this is the book for you! If you are worried about peer pressure, stressed out, or trying to keep up with fake Instagram profiles, then you will get so much from each chapter. If you are a parent, make this book your go-to resource to help you handle all of the turmoil that having teenagers can bring. Another fantastic book by this author. Buy it, read it, and use it!

Tremendous resource !

As a college head coach, I see student athletes as well as teens in general, that are under such what is seemingly overwhelming demands on their time., Social media creates a false narrative of life in general. Relationships, family, friends and technology create pressure that grows silently within our teens. This is a fantastic book for today's teenagers, and it is filled with advice and recommendations on dealing with the challenges they face. The seemingly endless amount and depth of daily decisions that many teens face in today's world can seem extreme. This book is a great resource for your teen and will offer parents insight as to how their teens react and deal with the outside noise and pressures of being a teen in the 21st century. I strongly recommend this book for both teens and parents!

Highly recommended

This has been so helpful for my cousin. I bought it for her since she was unconfident about herself. She took this book as a present, and I thought she wouldn't listen to it, but she did it because I had noticed that she is interacting more with her family. Moreover, she has new friends that I know are what she deserves, and even she has changed the way she dresses. In conclusion, she has changed her life for the better, so I am glad that I found this book.

A Great Resource For Teens and Parents

What a great book for teens, not only does it help them to know that what they are feeling and experiencing is normal and okay but it also has lots of helpful tips and tricks for building their self-confidence. There is a great mix of scientific explanations, personal experience and researched advice. I liked how the book makes the listener stop and consider different things they may not have thought about themselves without coming across as a lecture as it may do from a parent. My children will get years of benefit from this book, some of the chapters will need to wait until they are a little older but we've already put some of the advice into place. It was also a great reminder to me of what they are going through, it can be easy to forget as an adult.

Helped my daughter so much

Bought this for my daughter who has been struggling with social situations lately, very shy when it comes to get to the there/parties.

The chapter which particularly helped her was methods that mitigate social anxiety, employing some of the methods detailed has had an impact on her lately.

Very good information

I do some work in this area and so I always try to listen to books that cover the topic. Teens, now more than ever, are finding things hard and much harder than their parents or grandparents. This book is perfectly timed and treats the mental health issues with not only understanding but with insight (“Your inner voice isn’t the authority of who you really" are and self-confidence versus self-esteem). All the sections covering anxiety and the negative cycle are so important and I not only enjoyed listening but, as someone who knows a bit about this specific area, I know how much this information can and will help. A very good book that will hold anyone in good stead.
