Story
The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

My best friend warned me that it was too soon to marry Edward, a widower with an adorable but troubled little boy. She said we were moving too fast. But all I could see was a kind, loving man, struggling with grief, who needed my help. Yet as storm clouds gather above our small wedding ceremony, my hopes and dreams fall apart. Hard to hear end of each sentence. Boring.
My big problem with this audio is the narration.Every sentence is read with the same intonation And gets so quiet and low at the end of each sentence that it sounds like there is a problem with the audio. You can hardly hear the last couple of words of each sentence. The voice finds like a smoker’s voice and she does children’s voices very poorly. Story just doesn’t grab you.

Bored!
The story was long and kind of boring. There was small flashback about something that happened in the past, and then it was all reviled in the last 20 min and it was just weird, not exiting.

Terrible audiobook production!
I listened to the audiobook since it was working Audible’s Plus Catalog (free). First off, the protagonist is filled with guilt and we know the event that causes her to feel this way. However, it takes the whole story to reveal why and it is not explained how her character develops afterwards. There were suspenseful moments, but overall the story was too simple for me and the ending seemed too unbelievable. I’d skip this one. Lastly, the audiobook narration was just reading, not character narration and the production quality was very poor. I often could not hear the last word of the sentence or a few words in the sentence when the narrator took a breath because the production team did not increase the sound for those words - very annoying.

Can’t hear the reader
Even at full volume the reader is so quiet at the end of most sentences that you can’t hear what is being said. You can’t get into a book if you are constantly trying to figure out what was said. It was a free download and I only made it part way through. I don’t even know what happened as I was too busy trying to hear her.

Story okay
The narration really lets this book down. I don’t understand what they are trying to get across but it just felt like she was very depressed. Each sentence starts off loudly and then goes quieter. It’s all I could think about rather than listening story. It was a relief when she was doing a character voice. The only time she spoke properly. Really disappointing

What is going on with the narrator????
I read the reviews abs had to hear it for myself. Wow the reviews were so right I couldn’t get past the 1st chapter because of the narrator it’s like she’s an oscillating fan and at the end of every sentence she’s been turned away from the microphone! Is almost comical how bad it is, please re-recorded it with another narrator.

Good story but terrible production
I almost didn't carry on with this after reading the other reviews on the narration. It goes so quiet at the end of almost every sentence I couldn't hear it on my Echo.
I've listened to two other books by this author with a different narrator and they were great so thought I'd give this one last chance but just listening to it using my phone speaker. Hurrah I could hear it just about but still missed the odd word.
Good story with a lot of twists and turns.

Don’t bother
This had the potential to be a good story….. I think….. I couldn’t actually finish it.
The narration was awful as the voice tailed off at the end of each sentence to an almost inaudible volume and I ended up just getting irritated with it.
Coupled with the fact the protagonist was just basically an annoying whiner who was either drunk, drinking alcohol or hungry. The whole thing just lacked any depth. Couldn’t invest in any of the characters. Got to about halfway through and gave up. I don’t feel like I missed much.

Totally uninspiring,boring story
This is the story of a whinging, whining woman. I had zero sympathy for the main character and didn't like her. She talks about her dead brother as though he is a dead lover. The baddie turned out to be ridiculous . The narrator was dull and monotone. Don't waste a credit. I picked it after reading the reviews but wished I hadn't.

Disappointed at the end
I was enjoying this book throughout but expected a twist at the end that never came. The ending itself was in my mind far fetched and slightly ridiculous (to the point I could almost see it as a comedy sketch in my head had it not meant to be tragic) and I’d expected so much more. It made the rest of the story feel a bit superfluous and pointless.
The narration is a bit weird and the narrators voice keeps going quiet at the end of sentences. I had just bought new ear buds and actually thought there was a problem with them until I read one of the other reviews that mentions this exact same thing. I’m just relieved I don’t have to return the ear buds. I can’t recommend this book because I felt so let down by the ending when there were so many interesting options available to the author.

Great story poor audio
I’m not sure if it was the narrator or the audio record, but it sounded terrible. At the end of almost every paragraph, the words faded and on several occasions I had to rewind to listen again in order to hear the story proper.
The actual book was really good with an interesting plot line (although I’d guessed it)
But it was spoilt by the audio issues.

A good listen, but…
The storyline was good enough and kept me engaged throughout.
The narrators voice lovely and easy to listen to.
Problem was, at the end of a lot of sentences the narrators voice fades away and words missed. Often i had to rewind. I kept thinking i had an incoming call, or text. Disconcerting.
Otherwise a good listen.

Reasonably Good story
I really struggled with this one. The narrator basically whispered the last 2 or 3 words in every sentence, it was very difficult to hear, even with earphones in. Made it hard to follow the story. The story itself was good but got a bit hard to follow the back and forwards, and did get quite repetitive at times.
Still, had a nice little twist to the end.

not bad but not great
The narrator did a good job in a somewhat monotone novel.
The main character spends to much time wallowingin her own misery, and the relationship with her brother is a bit to intense.

solid story
Great, easy listening story although narrator was occasionally a bit soft to hear at times.

Such a shame
Really badly produced. It’s not that the narrator had an unpleasant voice but what was going on with the constant changes in volume? I missed what she said so turned it up - then it was loud.

Better to read the book
The narrator spoilt it, she kept trailing off at the end of sentences, which distracted me and I would miss what was said.

Great Plot, Annoying Characters
Was a good story and had a great ending but I struggled very much to empathise with or even like the main character. The whole time, I couldn't help but wonder why the husband stayed with her.
If you've ever had a creepy predatory boss this book may evoke ptsd sypmtoms. I think he was supposed to be likeable but he really wasn't.
