Story
A young woman falls from a vehicle speeding down a quiet road. Battered and bruised, she turns her head to the person who comes to her aid. ‘Help her’, she whispers before her eyes close. Days later, the body of another young girl is found in a shallow grave just a few miles away. The similarities between the two girls are startling, same age, same frail body, same shocking red hair.

The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

Would not recommend
I liked the first book but a few hours into this one I had to finally stop because the story line started reading more like a bad slasher movie: when you start thinking how dumb a person has to be to go into the woods in the middle of the night by herself to.....I would have liked more intelligence. Not sure that I now want to buy the third one just the series.

A good page turner, but...
After recently reading the 1st book in the series as well, I'm hoping the 3rd in the series moves away from "the deranged and abusive man mentally and physically abuses and belittles the woman he claims to love, keeping her imprisoned" theme.

Good story but...
The story was interesting, if predictable. I knew who did it after the second chapter. My biggest issue was the heroine, Gina Harte. She hasn’t got the sense God have a goose. It’s hard to believe her character is a ranking police officer who survived her 20s with her lack of self-protectiveness or common sense.

Disappointed
Okay so, what the heck? The storyline is so ridiculous and insufferable. I don’t know how I made it through the entire book. The narrator was irritating but I think that’s because of all the random characters she had to attempt. If I hear the word “gov” one more time I’m gonna scream. Don’t waste a credit.

Very Intense
More intense than I thought it would be. Like the first book, there are a LOT of characters to get to grips with, and a lot of suspense. Found it a bit too highly strung with not enough comfortable moments in between.
Also like the last one...the title seems completely unrelated. Sure, it could be tied into any part of the storyline, but it seems to almost be clickbait, as it doesn't really tell you about the story. To me, the title implies that something happened right before she died, however the story does not focus on that at all.
I enjoyed the read but personally feel a bit tired after listening to it.

A gripping novel
It is indeed an unputdownable thriller. Kept me riveted till the end. I read part of the book and listened to part of it. I recommend it highly. The only negative thing i could think of is that when the suspense unravels it does seem a bit unrealistic. But I could be wrong. There could be a lot of psychopaths out there who could resort to murdering people and mistreating women in the real world. All in all highly recommended reading!
