Publisher's Summary

Liam MacKinlay is certain that when he asks for Evelyn Stewart's hand in marriage, the third time's the charm. For hasn't he risen to war chief of the clan MacKinlay, a seasoned warrior, and an honored member of the clan that took him in as a child? But once again, her father denies Liam the lass he lost his heart to years ago.

Daughter of the Laird of the Stewart clan, Evelyn is expected to perform her daughter's duty, including marry for the better of the clan . . . even if that's against her will. But upon learning her father plans to trade her to an unknown clan in exchange for cattle, she will do almost anything to escape the future set out before her - including running away and marrying Liam MacKinlay.

Liam's discovering that beneath Evelyn's sweet disposition is an iron will to match any warrior. But now their marriage may start a war between the clans and Liam must fight for his new wife and his family. Even if it means raising his sword against those he calls "kin" . . .

Great series based in Scotland.

This was the latest book in the four book series. Loved them all. Great characters and the reader was easy to listen too. Recommend them highly. Will be looking for more titles by Allison B Hanson.

Strong Characters, lovable story line

I have enjoyed this series. Even though the stories cut short at the ending, All three books have tugged at my emotions and instead of being a book based on internal dialog “vulnerability” like so many historical romance novels these are books of action and consequence.
I HIGHLY recommend reading the books in order because the characters overlap in all three books.

Liam’s vulnerability feels genuine and it’s refreshing to have a male lead role discovering a woman’s pleasure vs. having all the answers.
Evelyn’s PTSD is carefully crafted and relatable, linked with her courage and peril to be accepted, her story is encouraging but real.

Hoping to see a story about Kinna eventually, I would love to see the series continue and grow. Great read!

Adventure and Romance

This story moved at a good pace and the characters were lively. I liked there thawed was a good balance of thoughts and conversation. The narrator was good, but sometimes it was hard to distinguish between the characters.
