Publisher's Summary
"With action-packed twists and turns and a pace that doesn't let up until the thrilling conclusion, Her Last Day is a brilliant start to a gripping new series from T.R. Ragan." - Robert Bryndza, number-one international best-selling author of The Girl in the Ice
Ten years ago, PI Jessie Cole and reporter Ben Morrison each suffered a tragedy that changed their lives - and now these two strangers are about to share a nightmare.
For Jessie, who makes her living finding missing persons, no case has consumed her more than the disappearance of her younger sister, Sophie. But left alone to raise Sophie's daughter, she realizes that solving the case has become an unhealthy obsession.
For Ben, a horrific car accident resulted in scars both physical and emotional - and amnesia that has made his life a mystery. But curiously, out of his shattered memories, there's one person he recognizes without a doubt: Jessie's sister. He just doesn't know why. Yet.
But Sophie isn't the only phantom drawing Jessie and Ben together. An elusive serial murderer known as the Heartless Killer has reemerged from the shadows. His next move will cut even deeper into Jessie's worst fears. And for Ben, what happens this time is going to be unforgettable.

Another hit from T R Ragan!!!!
This is a typical T R Ragan book - EXCELLENT!! I've enjoyed her two previous series and the one thing I can say with about as much certainty as I could say about any author is I can count on her for her consistently writing a book that is interesting, entertaining, fast paced and never boring. I know I am always sorry to see them come to an end.
The short of this book is basically about a man who was abused horribly by his father. The father was jealous over the attention the mother showered on her son i.e.: the son stole the mother from him. So the son grows up to be a serial killer. He kidnaps, tortures and kills his victims and did so over the course of a ten year period. That is until our heroine Jessie Cole gets involved. There are a couple background subplots as well that are equally as interesting.
The book wraps up with a satisfying ending. All questions answered and nothing left hanging.
Kate Rudd does an Excellent job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A new series by T. R. Ragan!!!
Theresa (T. R.) Ragan writes consistently outstanding modern detective mysteries. First there was the wonderful 6 book Lizzy Gardner series with every novel earning 5 stars. Then came the equally good 3 novel Faith McMann serialized series (the first two novels ended in cliffhangers). Her Last Day is the first novel in the Jessie Cole series. This opening novel in the series is as good as any of her previous books.
Protagonist Jessie Cole is a private investigator specializing in finding missing persons who has not found her own younger sister Sophie who has been missing for several years. Reporter Ben Morrison suffers from amnesia concerning his past life as the result of a horrible car accident. Jesse and Ben team up to find Sophie as Jesse seeks with Ben's help to find and stop a sadistic serial killer who tortures his victims for months before killing them. He is called the Heartless Killer.
Her Last Day has twists, turns, and surprises combined with a fast moving story with lots of action and intense suspense. T. R. Ragan's novels always excel at character development. And with author Ragan you do not have to wait a year for the next novel in the series because she releases a new novel every 6 or 7 months. As usual for Ragan's novels Kate Rudd narrates superbly.
Listeners who enjoy suspense mystery/thrillers and have not yet found T. R. Ragen have a very special treat in store.

Irritating narrator
After thousands of audio titles, this was one of the least enjoyable. The narrator speaks like a school child reading....no conversational pronunciations. It was difficult to listen to. Also hard to believe the story and situations. A definite waste of time. If I hadn’t been driving, I would have found another book and returned this.

What the?
Ok.... the glowing reviews for this book are an absolute mystery. The writing is passable, although it veers into cliche so often that they practically hold the entire book together. But the narration....holy hell. all the men sound like a stoned Keanu Reeves, and the women are the most deadpan, soulless robotic delivery I have ever heard. I am not looking for true thespians or anything....but this narration would ruin even the best written book. it's horrid.

Slow, boring and nothing special
I thought a few times about quitting early and finding a good book, but I hung in there. It's nothing special - a book I'll barely remember next week. A good book will pull you in - into the characters and into the storyline and you'll be sorry it ended. This book was not one of those. I didn't mind the narrator as many reviewers did, although the way she read was a bit monotone and depressing.

Terrible narration
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I'm trying very hard to finish this book. It's a decent story, but the narrator is so bad, I don't know if I'll make it. She over enunciates each word to point that I catch myself mocking her. If she narrates the next book in the series I won't bother with it. I will actually make it a point to avoid any book she narrates.

Too Torturous to finish
I didn't make it very far into this book before I simply couldn't go on. I have read several of this author's books but this one was beyond sick. . I'm thinking the world is awful enough without filling my mind with this sickness. I am a claustrophobic so when the book reached the part with the coffin and the snake, enough!!! Can't and won't read anymore. I doubt I'll never read anything by this author again. I love a great psychological thriller but this one went well beyond that. Not necessary but I'm sure plenty will love it.

The worst narrator!
Would you try another book from T.R. Ragan and/or Kate Rudd?
NO, I like to read TR Ragan books, she writes a good mystery but I couldn't listen to more than 10 minutes of this book, all I could hear was the horrid narration.
Has Her Last Day turned you off from other books in this genre?
No just by this narrator
How could the performance have been better?
A different narrator
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I don't know I couldn't stand listening to it long enough to decide.
