Publisher's Summary

The beloved author returns with a remarkable novel of both raw suspense and lyric beauty - the story of a lost pilot and a wartime photographer that will leave its mark on your soul.

In 1947, photographer and war correspondent Janey Everett arrives at a remote surfing village on the Hawaiian island of Kauai to research a planned biography of forgotten aviation pioneer Sam Mallory, who joined the loyalist forces in the Spanish Civil War and never returned. Obsessed with Sam’s fate, Janey has tracked down Irene Lindquist, the owner of a local island-hopping airline, whom she believes might actually be the legendary Irene Foster, Mallory’s onetime student and flying partner. Foster’s disappearance during a round-the-world flight in 1937 remains one of the world’s greatest unsolved mysteries.

At first, the flinty Mrs. Lindquist denies any connection to Foster. But Janey informs her that the wreck of Sam Mallory’s airplane has recently been discovered in a Spanish desert, and piece by piece, the details of Foster’s extraordinary life emerge: from the beginnings of her flying career in Southern California, to her complicated, passionate relationship with Mallory, to the collapse of her marriage to her aggressive career manager, the publishing scion George Morrow.

As Irene spins her tale to its searing conclusion, Janey’s past gathers its own power. The duel between the two women takes a heart-stopping turn. To whom does Mallory rightfully belong? Can we ever come to terms with the loss of those we love and the lives we might have lived?

Absolutely Amazing

Beatriz Williams has written yet another amazing story. The twists and turns, along with the amazing imagery put me in the story and kept my attention the entire time. I cant wait until the next book comes out! the vocal performance was equally as good, soothing even.

Great Listen

I love Beatriz Williams and have listened to most of her books. This one does not disappoint, but was a little slow to start for me compared to some of her other books. So much of the action was packed in the last couple chapters. I will say the twist is unexpected. I thought I had it all figured out very early on, but there was so much more! The narration is fantastic and really sets the tone and reflects the time period well. Overall, I found Her Last Flight entertaining, interesting, a little heartbreaking, and great listen.

Good title. Caught my interest.

Slow to catch my attention then gets me with the female banter. Unfortunately I simply was too distracted by the alternative chapters. This was my first book by Beatriz. Would be willing to try another.

Good!!

I listened to this on Audible (I love Cassandra Campbell as a narrator and she did a great job). I kept getting confused on the characters and well at the end, I see why. It was a really great story and the perfect wrapped up ending. Another win by Beatrix!

What a great imagination!

Creative take on the disappearance of Amelia Earhart and a great twist at the end! I loved this and listened as well as read it Now I'm going to listen to Amelia Earhart's own book The Fun of It to see how close some of the details are. I love this book and the narration was excellent too as always from Miss Campbell. I can't wait to find out more about this amazing woman whether her story is fictionalized or an actual memoir!

Marvelous Book

As all of the books I have read (listen to) authored by Beatriz Williams...it is a wonderful human, warm and intriguing story. I love the way she develops her characters, the story, and all the twists that keep you hanging until the end. This story I’d no different. The depth of all the people in the story, that makes them real. They are not perfect...but they are very relatable. And likable. And NOT stupid hero’s or heroines, which I dislike very much, even if the plot, the story vey good.

All of her books are a worth while read.
