Elle Jones, one of the astrologers behind the popular Twitter account, Oh My Stars, dreams of finding her soul mate. Story
Seventeen is nothing like Codi Teller imagined. She’s never crashed a party, never stayed out too late. She’s never even been kissed. And it’s not just because she’s gay. It’s because she and her two best friends, Maritza and JaKory, spend more time in her basement watching Netflix than engaging with the outside world. So when Maritza and JaKory suggest crashing a party, Codi is highly skeptical. Those parties aren’t for kids like them. They’re for cool kids. Straight kids. But then, Codi stumbles upon one of those cool kids, Ricky, kissing another boy.

Story
Kyle Blake likes plans. So far, they're pretty simple: Finish her senior year of high school, head off to a good college, find a cute boyfriend, graduate, get a good job, get married, the whole heterosexual shebang. Nothing is going to stand in the way of that plan. Not even Stella Lewis. Stella Lewis also has a plan: Finish her senior year as cheer captain, go to college, finally let herself flirt with (and maybe even date) a girl for the first time and go from there. Fate has other plans for Kyle and Stella when they're paired up in their AP English class.

Seventeen-year-old cynic Saoirse Clarke isn't looking for a relationship. But when she meets mischievous Ruby, that rule goes right out the window. Sort of. Because Ruby has a loophole in mind: a summer of all the best cliché movie montage dates, with a definite ending come fall - no broken hearts, no messy breakup. It would be the perfect plan, if they weren’t forgetting one thing about the Falling in Love Montage: when it's over, the characters have fallen in love...for real.

Caroline Parker knows three things to be true. First, she is going to be Boston's most sought-after divorce attorney by 35. Second, given how terrible her romantic track record is, falling in love isn't in the cards for her. And third, Christmas only brings her bad luck - being broken up with not once, not twice, but three times during the holidays is proof enough of that. When she runs into Hannah Dalton on Christmas Eve, she has no reason to believe her luck will change. After all, though Hannah is probably the most gorgeous woman she's ever seen, she's also straight.

EXTRAORDINARY IN SO MANY WAYS
- By Janna Wong Healy on 06-29-17
By: Fredrik Backman
Publisher's Summary
Seventeen-year-old Hannah wants to spend her senior year of high school going to football games and Mardi Gras parties. She wants to drive along the oak-lined streets of Louisiana's Garden District and lie on the hot sand of Florida's beaches. She wants to spend every night making memories with her tight-knit group of friends.
The last thing she wants is to fall in love with a girl - especially when that girl is her best friend, Baker.
Hannah knows she should like Wally, the kind, earnest boy who asks her to prom. She should cheer on her friend Clay when he asks Baker to be his girlfriend. She should follow the rules of her conservative community - the rules that have been ingrained in her since she was a child.
But Hannah longs to be with Baker, who cooks macaroni and cheese with Hannah late at night, who believes in the magic of books as much as Hannah does, and who challenges Hannah to be the best version of herself.
And Baker might want to be with Hannah, too - if both girls can embrace that world-shaking, wondrous possibility. Contains mature themes.

Such a good read
I read reviews and listened to the audio sample before I purchased...
honestly, I wasn't that impressed with the sample. I thought, "what the heck. I'll just get it."
It's a very realistic book. It captures the inner struggle some face in regards to religion and morality when coming out. I truly loved and cared about all the characters. The author described the setting and feelings in a way where you could see it and feel it. I felt the heart break ,and I felt the love.
I enjoyed the narrator as well.
Just get it. What have you got to lose?

Fantastic.
Thos book could have been by numbers. It isnt. sich a great exploration of what it feels like to be young and in love. My only negative is maube the boys in this book are a little too eloquent and mature towards the end. Explores many issues and handles religion especially well.

Intense, relatable, beautiful coming of age story
What made the experience of listening to Her Name in the Sky the most enjoyable?
I got genuinely invested in each character and what they were going through. The character development made the book whole and full of substance.
What did you like best about this story?
I like that Hannah and Baker, while going through similar things, come to terms with who they are in very different ways. The sometimes tortured path they took was hard to see them go through, but it felt honest and real.
Which character – as performed by Piper Goodeve – was your favorite?
Piper Goodeve brought all the characters to life in such a way that was touching and memorable. Her narration truly added so much to the experience of loving this book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was moved by every part of the story and it will remain etched in my memory for a very long time.

Not what I thought
I bought this book thinking it would be a love story between the two girls, however after the first few chapters they barely share a scene together. It's much more of a reflection on one of the characters coming out journey and struggling to come to terms with her love for her best friend, the impact on her friendship group, and her faith in relation to her sexuality. Which isn't a terrible thing, it's not poorly written (I mean, all the reflection does drag on a bit!) but ultimately not the love story or book I thought I was buying. I feel like the story I wanted to read was what happened next.

A fantastic, moving story
This was a beautiful book. The writing was at times a little disappointing but at other times absolutely beautiful. The biblical imagery used was very effective and this book spoke to me greatly as someone raised Catholic. The love story is sweet and the happy ending makes this a must read, given so many stories about gay women end in heartbreak. This book evoked so many emotions for me and I would definitely listen to it again.

probably my most loved story to date. story was fantastic, all the characters story's and the narrator was brilliant. I'm not religious and although it has some parts about religion , it is by no means trying to make you believe or not believe something. It's a fanatic book and I would recommend it for anyone. listening to this book I could really feel for the characters, it gets right to your heart and you find yourself feeling there pain and happiness.

Heart felt and genuine
So I’m a romantic at heart and by no means a Christian. This book is about both and balances them well so you don’t feel you are being brow beaten either. It takes on some really huge issues and tells about those from people that are in them’s point of view. I’m a fan now of this author. The woman who read the book is amazing, voices were distinct even the male characters. You feel feel like she has genuine passion for what she is reading. I was moved and was excited to continue the story when ever I had to pause for the real world, once I had time to pick it back up. Thank you for this really liked it.

Awesome novel
This is such a difficult novel in my ways, it’s a story of friendship, love and of acceptance under the oppressive beast of religion. Religion can create such unnecessary hardship and sorrow. I am not a religious person myself nor am I gay but I am a kind, open and loving person, this story had me in tears for Baker and Hannah so many times. I do recommend this story, particularly so for those with a religious background and are questioning their sexuality and acceptance of themselves in light of religion.
