Publisher's Summary

Lady Philippa must wed to gain her fortune and freedom. A former soldier wants only peace and seclusion. Marriage to each other is their best solution.

Lady Philippa Gillensford is three and 20, an heiress, and sister to a penny-pinching earl. After rejecting every bachelor her mother approves of, Philippa is ready to take her future into her own hands. Though she doubts she’ll marry for love, she is more than willing to marry for freedom from her family’s influence.

Myles Cobbett has withdrawn from society, content to remain alone after surviving the horrors of the Napoleonic Wars. When a friend convinces Myles to attend a ball benefiting wounded veterans like himself, Myles meets the lively Lady Philippa. Shortly thereafter, to help Philippa avoid scandal, Myles rescues her from a complete cad.

Sensing a chance to escape her family’s control, Philippa convinces Myles he must marry her to save her reputation. In exchange for this favor, Philippa promises him the very thing he thought he always wanted: a quiet life, alone in the country. While the two put on a show of marital happiness for their neighbors, both realize they want much more from this arrangement. Can they take a marriage of convenience and turn it into a love match?

Her Unsuitable Match is a sweet regency romance and can be listened to as a stand-alone or as the sequel to Sally Britton's previous novel, His Unexpected Heiress. It is also part of the Supposed Scandal series.

A new favorite by Sally Britton

I think I might have a new favorite book by Sally Britton. Her Unsuitable Match was delightful in so many ways and is 4.5 out of 5 stars for me! First off, it’s marriage of convenience, which is one of my favorite tropes. Add to that a hero (Myles) battling some deep wounds who’s valiant and incredibly kind, a heroine (Philippa) who’s fiercely independent, and conflicts that help them both grow and become more, and you’ve got a regency romance well worth reading. I personally listened to the audiobook and loved how the choice of narrator added to the story. This is definitely a book I’ll be returning to in the future.

*Thank to Sally Britton for an audio version of this book. All opinions are my own.

Love the character development

I enjoyed all sally britton books it seems! After the Inglewood series I wanted to listen to more books from this author and have enjoyed them all. They are wonderfully written. I loved this story and found the characters relatable and likable. I will continue to listen to all books of sally Britton and the narrator is also fabulous. Well done!

Wonderful Story

How can you possibly love a book more when you already think it is wonderful? Listen to it as an audiobook! Hearing the story read aloud and the characters portrayed with a British accent truly made me feel as if I was actually a part of the story.

As I listened I could hear Myles's physical and emotional struggles he had after the war. I could visualize him wondering if he would ever be worthy and capable of love. Philippa’s quiet, caring nature, determination, and concern for Myles was evident as she helped him to heal the” fissures of heart and soul”.

Philippa’s brother, mother, and thwarted would-be suitor were just as nasty as they were in the book. I found myself getting just a bit too anxious in their treatment of Philippa, even though I already knew what was going to happen. Bravo to Ms. Britton for an excellent, touching story and the narrator bringing this book to life! I will enjoy listening to this again and again.

I was given a review copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Another great story by Sally Britton

This is a lovely story about a marriage of convenience that turns into more. I listened to it on audiobook and really enjoyed it! The narrator did a great job with the different voices. The only voice I didn't like was Mr. Tuttle-Kirks (the solicitor) because it was so annoying, which was a bummer because I like his character.

I loved Miles! He is scarred physically and mentally from war, but even with his struggles you can see his good character through his actions.

Phillipa wants freedom from her family and an unwanted suitor so she marries Miles and although she is kind, she is also selfish. Marrying Miles and seeing his struggles helps her become a more caring and selfless person.

This is a great story about living with your struggles, overcoming selfishness, and building a marriage based on caring for the others happiness and success in life...and the ending was adorable!

Good story and narration

The hero's PTSD is sensitively portrayed and the love story unfolds delightfully. The contrast in families is striking.

Miles Ahead

Perfectly dramatized narration making this book a panacea after too many horrible babbling strident orations of novels in this genre. Only very small clues show this book has an American author ie the Brits do not take cream in their tea.

Intelligent sensitive MCs perform for the ton inside a marriage of convenience with excellent characterizations, banter and actions. No bedroom doors breached or bodices damaged.

Will certainly investigate this pairing of author/narrator again.

EXCELLENT AND ENJOYABLE

Clean, Regency Romance

Enjoyed it. Deep, realistic, likeable main characters. Deals with the physical, mental & emotional scars of war & the toll on people's everyday lives as they try to find a new 'normal' & those around them come to understand and provide help. Miles is a true gentleman.

Excellent narrator.
