Publisher's Summary

Can't wait for the next series of You? Then don't miss this, the sequel, now a major Netflix series.

You was a word of mouth best-seller around the world -- and now Joe Goldberg is back!

Joe Goldberg came to Los Angeles to start over, to forget about what happened in New York. But in a darkened room in Soho House everything suddenly changed.

She is like no one he's ever met before. She doesn't know about his past and never can. The problem is, hidden bodies don't always stay that way.

Amazing Narrator

I felt like I was in the narrator's head the entire book. The story had a bit of a lull in the middle. But that's probably on purpose for the big finish. Definitely recommend. But you would have had to have read the first book to understand everything.

Better than the TV series

Very dark. Much better than the TV version. The reader captures Joe so well. I can highly recommend.

Compelling

If you could sum up Hidden Bodies in three words, what would they be?

Dark, compelling, unputdownable!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hidden Bodies?

When Forty turns the tables on Joe - but there's really too many to mention. The dialogue is spot on and occasionally laugh out loud.

Have you listened to any of Santino Fontana’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Love his narration...he's an excellent 'Joe.'

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh in the same way the show 'Dexter' does.

Any additional comments?

Very well written books - but you must read 'You' first. I was actually rooting for Joe at the end of 'Hidden Bodies' and I hope there' s a sequel. The narration is excellent, I listened to both 'You' and 'Hidden Bodies' within a week! Only thing I'd warn about is both books have quite a few 'sex' scenes which some people may not like and a couple of uses of the 'C*** word.

Very different from the show, still good

After finishing season 2 of You on Netflix I was interested in seeing how the books differ from the show. I’ll keep this as spoiler free as I can.
You, the book, was nearly identical to season 1, a few minor changes, and one pretty major change that would have prevented a key plot point in season 2 of the show.
This book was completely different, the only similarities being the character names and SOME plot points.
I enjoyed both the plot lines from the show and the book, but I feel like Joe is more cruel in the books than on the show. Some of his motives for killing certain characters are a bit unjustifiable, and I’m glad the show runners tried to make him a bit more realistic.
Overall I enjoyed the twists and turns, and I had no idea what to expect next due to it being completely different to the plot I already knew about. The narrator was fantastic. I can’t wait for book 3!

Disappointing I gave Up in The End

I watched and listened to the first part of this saga You and enjoyed both, so I was looking forward to the new Netflix series and decided to listen to the book first. I was very disappointed, it seemed very far from the original book's premise of the stalker and serial killer Joe. By the time I had given up about six hours in nothing much had really happened and the whole Joe character felt diluted. The really good bits about the original You was centred around Joe's stalking and the strength of Beck the central character, in this second book the new characters Love and Forty just did not do it for me and the plot just seemed to drift along without purpose. I have since watched the Netflix version and really enjoyed it there are very strong differences between book and series and the series is a much more interesting version with plenty of the pizzazz of the first.

Not quite what I thought

Liked the narrator . Wasn't keen on the graphic sexual references. Shouldn't really be in the crime/thriller section

Jo is back and as deliciously evil as before

Having listened to You with a fascination that both horrified and entertained I wanted to find out what happens next

I was not disappointed- jo mind and viewpoint is as warped twisted and self obsessed as ever - and his new love Love seems to have similar dark twisted secrets

Was hooked again and drawn in - and left wondering - what happens next 😀

Santino Fontana captures the feeling of this story perfectly!

A good follow on to the original You, Joe suddenly packs up and moves out of NY and has to cover his trail along the way....great sequel, showcasing the growing paranoia, delusion and narcissism of Joe Goldberg...just like ‘You’, you will find yourself constantly going between hating him then rooting for him, and once again left wanting to know what happens next in the life of Joe Goldberg.
I originally read You, then decided to try the audiobook and it was brilliant so decided to listen to Hidden Bodies instead of reading it. I honestly think that the quality of the narration is what made me enjoy both these books so much, he portrays the story so well.

Great story, narration and excellent characters.

This was different to the first book in the series ‘You’, but still just as good, gripping and excellently written. The characters were so realistic and the narrator did a great job. Really enjoyable listen! Will miss it.

Far better than expected

After listening to You and finding it excellent I couldn’t wait to listen to this. The character of Joe is brilliant and that is why this is so good. If you liked the first book you must listen to this.

No redeemable characters

Not a fan of how is was written. For me, all the characters had very little depth.
I think this is one of those rare instances where the show is better than the book.

Twisted

Loved every word, inmersed in the life and doings of a psychopath, thrilling to the end.

Female characters read with barbie dolls voices?!

I can’t stand listening to male narrators reading female characters in typical dumb, sexy-Barbie doll voices. It grates on my nerves and totally affects my ability to relate to the characters. Seriously, in this day and age, how does does this sort of performance get through? I know the story is told from a rather misogynistic narrator but without the balance of actually being able to see the women as people, the whole story falls flat. We deserve better than this, Audible.

Kepnes should’ve stopped at just “You”

The narrator’s soothing voice and Kepnes writing style is all that kept me hooked until the end. But I struggled to keep listening. Was nothing like the first book. I wasn’t able to empathise with Joe like the last book and the characters of Love & Forty just seemed ridiculous. The ending ended up annoying me a bit too. It’s a shame but I felt the death scenes were less gripping and the sex scenes were like that from the mind of a teenage boy. Meh. Wouldn’t recommend.

Celeb Crazy

The first book in this series was so great so I thought I'd try the second. Eh. Not too impressed. It was a bit strange with all the celebrity name drops, so often. It seemed like every few sentences there was a 'dinner with Amy Adams', 'coke with James Franco', 'drinks with Seth Rogan', 'Meryl Streep gave me a hug'. It was odd. It was nice and twisty towards the end though. Did not like that Forty character. And the way that Joe had to keep so many secrets about everything he was doing and thinking, even when it seemed unnecessary and pointless was a bit annoying. Saying all that I would still read another Caroline Kepnes book. This one has to be a one off miss. I just know it.

Spellbinding

This book is very different from season 2 You. It’s what I liked about it. Joe is extremely funny and sarcastic in this one. The humour was timed perfectly. The narrator really captures the creepiness and depth of Joe Goldberg. Couldn’t stop listening.

Not as good as the first one

Its still worth listening to, but I found the story not as gripping as the first book. Same voice actor though who does an amazing job again.
