Publisher's Summary

In this novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, diamonds can be a girl's best friend...or her worst enemy.

She couldn't remember a thing, not even who she was. But it was clear Bailey James was in trouble. Big trouble. And she desperately needed private eye Cade Parris to help her find out just what kind. Surely she wasn't a criminal--but then what on earth was she doing with a bag full of cash and a stunning blue diamond as big as a baby's fist?

Not the best but not the worst

It was a little slow for me & sort of easy to figure out. But I would read more Nora Roberts books.

Unbelievably unbelievable.

I never expect great literature from Nora Roberts or this genre in general but this one was painful to slog through. The ridiculous timing of the (slight spoiler here I guess) playboy-millionaire-meets-virgin-damsel-in-distress-love-at-first-sight story line was a huge stretch even for this genre. Skip it and use your credit for something else.

Classic Nora Roberts

All Nora Roberts books should be read by women. Preferably Emily Sutton-Smith or Kate Rudd.

Dated, pleasant

The book was published 20 years ago. Perhaps that explains what I would call shocking and sensitivity to the boundaries necessary for vulnerable woman. The private detective takes her home and woos her even though she has no memory of who she is and is emotionally fragile. Of course that part of the story turns out fine in the end. But in this day and age, it represents a gross misuse Power in a relationship and in real life would’ve been unimaginable.

That being said, this has the Roberts romance and sex. The story simple. I appreciate that she did not drag it out longer considering what needed to be said. On the other hand, I do enjoy longer more involved books. A pleasant diversion.

Sex over plot

Book had a good start. Kept one wondering what was up Fairly good story line but after the first half it seemed that the author had to add to the length of the story and did so through verbose sex encounters. So much so that it became boring.
I would have given higher rating if story had stayed on point

It was ok...

This is definitely not my favourite Nora Roberts' book, but her writing is generally so superb and the narrator excellent, that it wasn't a complete waste of time. I will definitely listen to the 2nd and 3rd book.

Excellent story. I read this series many years ago and enjoyed it. When it came up on sale I couldn't resist getting it on Audible. I'm so glad I did.
