This Book Let Me Down!

Not what I expected at all. If this had been my first book by Alexandria House, I wouldn't read another one. It just kind of fell flat for me. I initially liked Greer but, when all of the drama with Sasha came to a head, I very quickly disliked her. I thought her reaction to the situation was just stupid. Not only that, her BFFs were stupid as well. Especially Trevia so, I'm not looking forward to her and Denise's story at all. Even the sex scenes were blah. They weren't nearly as hot as her other books. The female narrator was horrible! Her narration was so monotoned and had no emotion what so ever. She brought absolutely no life to any of the characters. Although Jakobi Diem was the co-narrator, Null Mari narrated 90% of the book. For every 5 to 6 chapters she narrated, Jacobi Diem only narrated 1 or 2 chapters. Was Wesleigh Siobhan or Adenrele Ojo not available?!!! Higher Love definitely wasn't my favorite but, it was slightly entertaining. Which is why I gave it two stars instead of one.

Just So-So

I really, really struggled to finish
this book. The storyline lacked drama and the leading character voice of Greer was boring. I enjoyed the male voice...I always enjoyed his voice and he switches up voices when he narrarates another character.

I Liked the Book, But Greer...Ugh

If someone you don't know can show up at your doorstep, tell you a story and get you to leave your fiancee without even talking to him, then you were never ready to get married. You did not trust that person to begin with. That is Greer. She threw away a relationship with an incredible man and despite what he said, she refused to believe him or investigate for herself. It took damning evidence supporting his claim for her to even consider talking to him. Child...you should have stayed single.

Steamy!

The story drew me in immediately. I love Null Mari's voice. Jakobi Diem has a very soothing voice, but I expected Derrick's voice to be a bit deeper and tantalizing with a hint of cockiness. Anyway, I enjoyed this book.

Okay book, not my favorite

The book was not one of my favorites from Alexandria House, however it was entertaining. I really enjoyed the narration by Jakobi Diem; he never disappoints.

Love Alexandria but...

This book was very, very boring and too predictable. I am a huge fan of Ms. House, but this book just didn't do it for me.

Read this only if you're a fan already

If I hadn't already fallen in love with the McClains and them Mitchell boys, this book wouldn't have convinced me to plunge myself into this Universe. HOWEVER, Ima stick beside my girl because it's so refreshing to be re-introduced to characters briefly met in later books. I will continue to read this series because Nyles Adams (in the next book) is a character I'd always wanted to learn more about from his cameos in later books.

I can see why Ms. House got all the "Rushed Noir" criticism. While I did get a little whiplash from the progression of this romance, Greer and Derek's love for each other is undeniable. I'm glad Greer came to her sense because, chile, she pissed me off on more than one occasion.

As far as performance, Jakobi gets it right as usual; but a fan of Mari's voice - tone, inflection, and delivery - I am not. This one needs a redo with Wesleigh.
