Publisher's Summary

She’s a bullheaded, devoted daughter who doesn’t have time to entertain ideas of forever and always. He’s a stoic, broody dragon with a laser focused plan and taste for revenge.

Busy taking care of her wheelchair-bound father and working multiple jobs to get by, the last thing Posey needs is one more complication in her life. When Kai shows up in her coffee shop, Posey does everything she can to ignore the instant attraction that leaves her reeling. Retreating from civil war in their homeland, Kai and his brothers are forced to leave everything they’ve ever known behind and relocate to a small mountain town in Oregon. Not only did he not expect to find his fated mate in the beautiful firecracker Posey, but when old enemies arrive at Kai’s front door, he finds himself caught between battles as well.

Step one, mate his beloved. Step two, find out who is systematically murdering the shifter population in his new home. Step three, protect his new kingdom from their shared enemy and seek vengeance for those they have lost.

Seems simple enough, right? Hardly. Will Posey and Kai’s undeniable connection be enough to give up the fight in order win the war, or does fate have other plans?

Sexy Paranormal Love Story

His Mate is a sexy, fast paced paranormal love story that is well written and hot. Thank goodness for a coffee addiction or Kai woukd not have ended up meeting Posey. The chemistry between the two will melt your device it is so hot. Posey the heroine may not have the confidence but what she lacks there she more than makes up in sarcastic wit, charm, and bullheaded stubbornness. The story has love, pain, revenge, dragons and shifters who all fight for a common purpose. I truly enjoyed the fact that the more the story goes on the more developed storyline and characters get. Nathaniel Grey does an amazing job narrating this story with voices and emotions that bring the story to life. I highly recommend this book. This is my honest unbiased review of His Mate.

Sweet, Hot Shifter story

Loved it. Narrator reminds me of Kirt Graves. Low angst between couple. Steam. Family. Fight scenes! Will read more.

Snooze fest

I enjoyed the story at first but eventually I was seriously considering stop listening before the ending. I went ahead and finished it since I had donated so many hours already. It was a lot of sentimentality that had me yawning. I love romance but not codependency. Another reviewer mentioned all of the profanity. Normally that is something that doesn’t bother me but when it’s every other sentence, it gets to be redundant. And in my judgmental brain, even a little retarded. Profanity should be used for effect not to add to the word count. Our hero attends a barbecue where he meets approximately 10 or 15 strangers. These characters are all introduced at this party and then five or six chapters later, I, as a listener, am supposed to remember them. I quickly lost track of who was who and how they were related. There were so many little sub plots of romance that it felt like this was going to be the one and only book. However right at the end, or close to it, another character was introduced that apparently was going to be the hero of the second book. Mr. Gray did a pretty good job of narration, but I sure wish I could’ve heard Posey‘s voice as feminine.

Lovey

Bit too much “I love you”. Although the accent was probably Slovak, I had trouble visualizing Kia as manly. He sounded comedic.

Pretty sweet story but convoluted

Overall I liked this story and the world it is set in. What I didn't like is how many characters were packed into it all at once along with their stories being half told when those could have been part of other books in the series. This book alone could have been spread acrosse two or three books and just kept focus on the main couple. It was all a bit much and I lost track of some of the characters and got them confused at times.

Nathaniel Gray was a solid narrator, however this audiobook would have benefited from having a female narrator to pair with him.

Since so much was covered and concluded in this book I'm not sure I'll pick up the series, but this was worth the listen as it is heartwarming and romantic with just enough action and drama to keep it interesting.

Yesterday, Today, & Always....

First of all, the narration is phenomenal! Nathanial is definitely going places with that voice!

Second, THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!! Kai and Posey are a freaking mess and I am HERE for it!
Nothing like an old fashion dragon storming into the local coffee shop and giving the young barista a heart attack! The humor, the spice, the excitement, the danger... Hands down one of the most exhilarating stories I've listened to in a long time.
BE READY for twists and turns that you'll never see coming!
Thank you, A.K. Graves! Can't wait for the rest of the series!

Too much cursing

This book would have been much better without all of the unnecessary profanity. Don’t mind some cursing but this was over the top. The storyline was interesting but couldn’t take the profanity. A female narrator would have been valuable also. The language of dragons wasn’t consistent.

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. This book is so well written, with amazing flow, plot line and character development. I listened to this audiobook with avid attention. Nathaniel Grey voiced this book wonderfully. I loved all the characters. The banter between the brothers was funny. Kai and Posey are beautiful and well matched.

Fantastic narration

Having already read this book, I came in with certain expectations.
These expectations were not only met but exceeded. The accents, the character differentiation, the pace of speaking the narrator used just created an experience to be enjoyed. Highly recommend!!
Also I’ll be watching for his name in other audiobooks because I enjoyed the narrator so much.

Loved the book, loved the audio version

I read "His Fate" after discovering the Bound Beyond Blood series with a later book.... and I can assure you I am madly in love with it!
A.K. Graves is able to write lines that makes you both lough so hard and cry your eyes out, the characters are so hot & funny that you cannot play cool.....

His Fate is the first book of the series, introducing the Ashland, Oregon shifters community. It's the love story between "Josey Posey" Josephine Timmons and "Kai" Kasimir Dragovikh, and the audio version is really worth it.

If you already know the story, you will enjoy Nathaniel Gray's amazing voice, his reading and style.

Definitely to be recommended!

Thanks again @authorakgraves & @nategrayreads for the amazing time!

Nice listen.

Thoroughly enjoyable listen. Great narration. Unlike a lot of shifter romances, it actually had a nice storyline and wasn't just all sex.
