Publisher's Summary

In her award-winning novel His First Wife, Essence best-selling author Grace Octavia introduced Jamison Jackson, a man on his way up. But in this explosive follow-up, he discovers the top isn't the safest place for a man with a past....

A secret dark past and a string of messy affairs haven't stopped self-made millionaire Jamison Jackson from becoming mayor of Atlanta. But while he may have a gorgeous new wife and new alliances, he can't quite escape his past and those who want to see him fail. There's his jilted first wife, a lover he'd rather forget, and a ruthless faction of old guard politicians and power lords who have no problem getting blood on their hands. And the fact that Jamison's ambitious current wife, Val, schemed and blackmailed her way into his arms - despite his mother's not-so-subtle warnings - is far from the least of his problems. Because everyone's got something to gain from Jamison's losses - and as the games begin, more than his career may be at stake.

Great

I really liked this book and would recommend it. It had a crazy storyline. I wish this book was a movie or TV show.

I wish J and C had got back together and I hate what happened to J and C in the end. Coreen was a crazy coward and I hope she didn't get a dime and her son find out what she did. With no way to validate the paternity if it wasn't already then she should get nothing for her son.

I can't wait to hear the next book in this series.

Pretty Good!

This was a good story, well written and pretty entertaining. It was so, SO funny in the beginning, with multiple punchlines delivered impeccably by the narrator, that I must admit I was a little disappointed that the hilarity did not continue all the way through.

Nonetheless, it was a good listen, with a good number of surprises and a pretty solid “feel good “ ending amidst somewhat tragic circumstances.

I enjoyed the narrator who has a very good reading voice and excellent timing! I will say I was a little concerned about the very, very, VERY long pauses between paragraphs and chapters which continued throughout the book, so much so that I often had to check to make sure my player was still working!! Barring that, great Kudos to Simi Howe for a job well done!!

Mmm! A look into the different games people play

The book was good! That Mom! She got hers! So much going on. I wanted it to continue on! The narration made it come alive!
