Publisher's Summary

“I don't know which is worse - having your mate die or having them reject you.”

Shortly after reaching maturity, Scarlett finds her mate...only to face a painful rejection that threatened to cut her life short. No one told Scarlett reaching maturity would hurt this much, but she came out the other end stronger, braver, smarter, and a little less naïve.

Seeking to pick up the torn pieces, she leaves her pack for a town well away from her home, far away from her ex-mate who just can't let her go even after claiming someone else. All seems well until she wanders into Alpha Noah's territory, and she finds an unfortunate blessing. The Goddess has given her another chance at a mate - only it has to be with Noah, a demon wolf plagued by his own dark past.

With tainted hands and a shattered heart that almost drove him to madness once more, he has turned ice-cold. Their wounded souls push and pull, but some things just won't heal. Rogues have been ravaging their world, and in a war where hundreds of lives have been lost, revenge is all that's left. Is the Goddess playing a cruel game this time? When utter carnage surrounds her, will Scarlett's inner luna rise to the challenge? Will Noah ever get to claim her as her mate?

In a world where families are pitted against families, and bonds are severed as soon as they are formed, there are no guarantees.

Book needs better Reader

I had a really hard time following the story line just because Ms. Valderrama could not change the voices of the characters. the Alpha Male sounds just like the female mate so if you miss the chapter heading where she announces who is speaking you are lost. It really takes away the enjoyment of the story. if this book had an experienced reader who could do voices it would be fabulous.

Good story, not a fan of the reading

I liked the book, I read it quite awhile ago. It was one of the free choices on audible so I decided to listen to it. As a very sarcastic person, I totally got the girls sarcasm when I read it. The reader though is not even a little sarcastic, everything the girl says just makes her sound like such a brat. It's impossible to like the female lead when she is read this way. I do not recommend listening to this, but it's not a bad story if you have time to read it.

Read the book.

I tried to like this book but the narrator was terrible. Her voice is the same tone across the book for all characters. There are like 5 main characters that if you miss the chapter title you will be 100% confused on who’s point of view you’re currently listening too. I will have to purchase the book to determine what happens. I could not get through talk 53 chapter with this narrator.

Could be better, good overall.

Story was good. Performance could have been better if there was male narrator. Will listen again.

Good Story Overall

I can see why people complain about the narration but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I really enjoyed this book and I was generally able to follow even when the male roles sounded feminine.

His to claim

Over all this book was amazingly written. Only downside is the one narrator. It was difficult at time to understand whose point of view she was reading. Two readers would have been best, one male one female. Also the ending could have been a little better, it was ok, but not how I would have liked for it to end. The introduction of a new powerful character towards the middle of the book “Grace” left a lot of unanswered questions, where was she from, why she didn’t find her mate, what happened to her at the end? She was a heroin but not much background to go on to understand where she came from. However I really enjoyed the book overall and would definitely re-read it if they have two readers. Also this narrator made “Scarlett” out to be almost childish. I would have preferred a stronger female reader that would have shown how much “Scarlett” had matured through the story line.

MORE NARRATORS!!

I liked most of the story. But it needs more narrators!! With one voice it ruined it.

Not amazing but not smut

The flow of the story and characters was very choppy! Mostly a good story and concept, would have been five star with better development and depth.

Very hard to follow

There was a good story there. It was very hard to follow the story because the narrator did not change her voice between characters so I was always confused about which character was speaking.

Great Story but.....

Overall this was a really great story with a great storyline. However to have one female read over six main characters and only be able to distinguish her voice two different ways was not easy. There were many times where I just got lost on who was speaking and had to listen intently and realize who the character was talking.

Now although the storyline was great I felt like this book could have been half the length it was if they did not have the constant push and pull back and forth of the main character Scarlett and Noah. We all understand that there will be push and pull was emphasized in the description but a good 6 hours of this book is the constant back and forth childish behavior of scarlet and it became very annoying. They never allowed a moment where the two really was not at each other's throat and it just became very exhausting to listen to after the 3rd hour. There were a few times I just want to be done with the book even though I wanted to see it through because it was good but the book really could have been half the time because it didn't make sense to give us that many hours of back and forth pull that never translated into a positive moments.

Now the character Scarlett I'm not going to lie she got on my nerve a lot. I felt she felt very self entitled and wanted to be treated a particular way but didn't treat others that way. she came in right off the back not wanting anything to do with Noah not wanting to be called Luna. but then got upset that Noah was not treating her as an equal but she didn't want the title and she did nothing to earn the title. as Luna you supposed to be out in the community meeting the people being a help when it's needed being a listening ear to your mate being almost like a help mother to the community. Scarlett did none of this all she did was soak on how she felt whether she felt appreciated the fact that she didn't like or want her mate to touch her. everything was about her she did no Luna responsibilities so she did not deserve the title. there were a few times I wish he just went with Delilah. someone who actually wanted him and wanted the title instead of Scarlett ungrateful behind. I hated that Noah kept having to apologize to her when he did nothing to her except for be honest about his opinion and how hard it was for him to get over his deceased mate. she was never honest with him and at the end of the day her mate turn her down where his mate died. she wanted to be on the same page or level of acceptance as his deceased mate but she did nothing to prove that she even wanted to be with him. even him trying to hold her hand or touch her back when they enter a room or give her food she got pissed off and didn't want it. but in the same breath gets pissed off when other females touch him or want to be around him and gets jealous. it's like if you want your mate then act like you want your mate because if you don't I'm pretty sure another woman will because you guys are mated and are mates and you want to act like you want to be friends but then you don't even act like your friends so her attitude toward him really piss me off and it made me mad that he was always the one that was apologizing when she clearly was the one not trying. I hate when characters act jealous but then when they have the opportunity to get who they want they don't.

then on Janie character, it was very frustrating because in the beginning she confided in Scarlet that she really did like her mate which was the beta and that she worry he may refuse her because of her status. to only later show him really wanting her and accepting her for who she is and now she's the one acting like she has the attitude and don't want to accept him. that really pissed me off cuz if it's something I don't like is characters saying one thing and then when being presented the opportunity and doing the opposite. she was so worried about him turning her down when she was the one turning him down what sense does that make in the book it just really frustrated me that all the women cried about wanting one thing and then when they were presented with it they act very childish and stupid. and people wonder why men say the things that they do about women it proves it right here in this book that we actually don't know what the hell we want and when we're actually giving what we want we really don't want it.

but again overall the book was good and interesting once you're in it you do want to know what happened in the end but I do feel like the book could have been 6 hours instead of 12 because the back and forth over and over again with the same situation got very old and exhausted to listen to after while and the female characters scarlet and Jeannie made me very frustrated because they acted totally different than what they said that they wanted.

Wattpad and pathetic female

In principle, I did like this book. However, the main female character is pathetic. To me, it felt like the unnecessary emotion chapters weren't in the correct order because she went back and forth like a yoyo and it was just confusing. I also think the narrator makes the female character seem even more pathetic - I recommend listening on 1.3x speed or you'll just get bored. This is very much a Wattpad story that focuses too much on irrelevant topics and skims over major plot points that could be expanded upon and really add something to the story - they were skimmed over so quickly that you really have to focus on the story. You almost have to read between the lines of what is actually important and what's not. It also doesn't mention that there are multiple viewpoints aside from the main male and female characters - I suspect this is done to allow for more books in the future but it just made it confusing. In my opinion, the other characters have their lives better together than the main characters.

Is this a watt pad story?

The storyline seems really interesting but the execution is just not doing it for me honestly. If you are into the feel of a watt pad story then by all means download it but if you like more neatly and professionally written story then don’t.

audible version

I liked this Audio of this story. it was good clear and pleasant.

storyline was good slightly predictable with certain events but we'll written and put together.

I enjoyed this story. I would prefer if each character had their own voice as it can get a bit confusing when swopping between characters. otherwise perfect.

Binge Worthy!

Loved it. Well narrated and the storyline was solid. An emotionally invoking story having me giggling at clever quips and shedding tears through heart-wrenching trials and tragedies. The ending was sudden and I longed for a couple more chapters with soppy, stupid grinning, toe-curling moments.

no.

sometimes I get bored and download stuff like this. Narrator wasn't too bad. she has a similar voice to the character Tiffany Blum-Deckler from the MTV series "Daria". The story is told from the perspectives of too many characters for one narrator to voice. Whoever proof-read the book did a terrible job. There is so much repetition and the narrative doesn't flow well. Like sentences are literally repeated. they are literally repeated a lot. Could've been half as long and far less tedious.
If concepts like sexual violence, rape, imprisonment and torture are triggering for you, maybe give this one a miss. I kept imagining doomsday preppers rather than wolves. It made this somewhat more disturbing to listen to.

Great Story

Was a great story, very descriptive writer.
I really enjoyed the story line and the introduction of each character and their own stories and how they are then intertwined into the main story. Alot of good twists in the story, keeps you interested and keen to keep going.
The Narrator was good and easy to listen to. Very well spoken and clear.
First ever audio book, so I did struggle to get into it at the start as I enjoy reading, but once I got into it, i thoroughly enjoyed it.

Enjoyed!

This was an interesting book and although it was 12hours long it did not feel like it. I enjoyed that it wasn't all about werewolf sex and it had a good storyline. I wasn't a fan of the narrator as her voice is quite young and at times I wasn't sure what character was talking but don't let that put you off, she still did a good job.

Worth the Read, Loved It!

Great story, can be a little bit hard and confusing to follow the narrator but if you can get over that it is worth keeping.
I just wish there was a second book to follow on with the pack, and to see how everyone deals with the aftermath.
