Publisher's Summary

Participating in psychedelic ceremonies with shamans from the Amazon. Diving headfirst into rituals at Burning Man. Flying across the world to work with spiritual gurus in Bali. These were never on Doug Cartwright’s radar as “must-have” experiences, but when you’re a 20-something ex-Mormon ex-millionaire living deeply unfulfilled after doing everything you were “supposed to", you start searching for a normal reality far from your original version.

This book is Doug’s story, a psychedelic journey into meditation, silent retreats, astrophysics, neuroscience, philosophy, and all forms of self-healing. It’s how he found the purpose of life, realized his mistakes, and built a new reality. Doug’s story is how he shifted his perspective on life - and it’s how you can learn to shift yours. In Holy Sh!t We’re Alive, Doug shows you how to live with intention, trust yourself, and show up every day for a meaningful life. You’ll learn mind-blowing facts and important clues to understand your existence and unique contributions. Self-love can be your superpower. No matter who you are or where you’ve been, this book gives you permission - and motivation - to do the work and throw out the garbage holding you back so you, too, can maximize your human experience.

Incredible insight in area of self discovery

I finished this book in ONE setting. Doug talks about topics that are so crucial and obvious yet no one talks about them. His journey of self discovery is inspiring and beautiful. Very eye opening book. Everyone needs to read this.

Listened to it 3 times

I felt really connected to this author. Like he had lived all of my insecurities and seemingly has moved past them in a way that I am currently trying to. Book was referred to me by my therapist.

Very very interesting because he speaks in normal terms and relatable experiences.

Doug does an incredible job of relating to all of us in this book. This isn’t a ra ra ra personal help book but a real story that we can all relate to. I think it helps others and especially me realize the bigger picture and not worry about our daily fears that drive us. Instead let those things that come natural drive and influence us. Loved it!

Holy Sh!t this book rocks

First of all, Doug’s brother does an incredible job narrating this book. On. Point.
Secondly, Doug’s personal accounts of his own path truly resonated with me . And his honesty and vulnerability about his family, religion, and insecurities really brought his message to life.
What. A. Trip.
He touches on so many critical pieces of his journey, including psychedelics, mentors, entrepreneurship, love, trauma, and a connection to the Source.
Well-written. Inspiring. Thoughtful and impactful.

Holy sh!t this book is incredible

I discovered the author, Doug Cartwright working for the sales company he talks about in the book. Even though he hadn’t exclusively worked for the company in years they still used his training videos to teach newer salesman like myself at the time. I later discovered a podcast he was featured in and checked it out because I recognized his name from the training videos. I had no clue the rabbit hole it would lead me down. I ended up downloading his app, The Daily Shifts and signing up for his online course. His insights and advice has led to profound experiences and life changes. I can’t thank Doug enough for the value he’s added to my life. This book is both fascinating to listen to and deeply profound. No matter what faith or beliefs you subscribe to I promise you he will say something that will resonate with you make you think deeper 10/10 recommend.

Just a self absorbed idiot having a rant

I wasted 1 credit on this after being referred by an account I follow on Instagram.

Basically just a book about him stoking his own ego as he reflects on his past. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

I'm not one of those serial reviewers, and for the most part I'm generally not too fussed with books in this genre, even if they seem to recycle the same material and package it differently. So you know this one sucks for me to have to waste 1 minute of my time to leave this review..

All the best though Doug, but sorry, it's a no from me.
