Publisher's Summary

He's a professional hockey player trying to survive on his new team. I'm just trying to survive.

I'm down to my last dollar. I live day-to-day in a world that doesn't care. Despite my bad luck, I'm a fighter. I never give up. I never stop trying.

Ryan Parker's wealth and generosity set him apart from anyone I know. Yet, I don't trust him. It's nothing personal. I trust no one. But when my bad luck takes a turn for the worse, one person shows up. Ryan Parker.

I do not understand why he bothered because the guy has enough of his own issues to deal with. But I don't have a choice. I need him. It's a matter of survival.

His friendship changed everything. It changed me. I started to believe in myself. I allowed myself to trust. And for the first time in a long time, I felt my heart beat again.

Contains mature themes.

Story: good. Narrative: awful

I had a large number of audible books, and have never understood why anyone would want to change the speed—until now. Male narrative is so slow, I had to go to 1.25 for the Ryan chapters, and switch back to normal 1.0 for Zoe. Pretty much a pain. And while the story is good, it was a little too long and drawn out.

Male voice is....

To begin, I love listening to audio books. I was expecting this to be like the rest I’ve heard. However, the voice of the male narrator is absolutely terrible! It sounds as if he is not only a robot, but there is no masculinity to his voice whatsoever. It was very boring and hard to follow. As someone stated above, I had to put it on 1.25 for the male and back to normal for Zoe. What a shame!!!! Will not buy another book from this company!

GET THIS!

Book 1 needed Alex's narration 🥵❤️ Where do I begin? Damsel in distress, tentative flirting, slow burn written and narrated to perfection. I hated having to pause this for sleep!

Ryan & Zoey

An exquisitely captivating, suspenseful, sweet and heartwarming story. Ryan and Zoey embarked on a journey of a beautiful friendship that could possibly be more. I absolutely adored this book.
Narration was ok. I did have to speed it up for the male narration.

teeth grinding voice performance

this is one of my favorite books, so when I was looking for stuff to download for a long road trip, I bought this without previewing - big mistake. the female voice actor is fine, if uninspired. the Male actor, however is so bad it drove me absolutely nuts. I dont know what the goal was, but he speaks so slowly I initially thought the playback speed was screwed up and went digging into my settings. Between that and the overly enunciation, his chapters sound really artificial, have little change in tone or emotion, and drag so much I kept turning it off. if I had anything else to listen to, I would have scrapped it, and did as soon as I got somewhere with enough signal to download an alternative (after 90% of the book, unfortunately). The only good thing was that my annoyance and irritation were more than strong enough to keep me alert through a long night drive. Utter waste of $.

Speed up 1.2x and narration is fine

I know a lot of people did not like this narration, but I think they were recorded at different speeds I don’t think he talked that slowly when he recorded it. I sped it up to 1.2 and he sounded normal, and the female narration sounded a little fast on some words but nothing too distracting. I actually really enjoyed his narration. He had a really great voice.

I love a story about a homeless girl finding a home. I love it when the Hero saves her and gives her the chance she needs. And I loved that this one involved hockey. I loved how this story unfolded, I loved seeing Zoe learn to trust and fall in love with Ryan. I love how patient and sweet Ryan was with Zoe. He was so protective of her and she flourished under his protection.

But I had to drop one star because there is also one thing I really don’t like in emotional stories like this.

I hate that in order for the heroine to be secure in the relationship she needs to leave and stand on her own feet. (In this case Ryan decided she needed to leave. Or his mom did) Because I disagree. I think they could be together while she works and saves money. I think she can go to school and become independent and still be with Ryan. I just don’t think all the heartache was necessary. And it ruins the flow of the story for me. I start feeling disenchanted with their story when they separate for a reason I just can’t get behind. And to make matters worse, Ryan goes on a blind date?! Seriously? No he should have been waiting for her, and Mika was the one who made set it up and encouraged it? I hated it. Again it left more disenchanted with their story.

Its a kind of pretty women story except she's homeless and not hooking.

She has to start believing more in herself and seeing herself as others do.

He's a hockey player trying to fit in to his new team. But he came to the team with some strikes again him from the start.

I love sport stories and this won was a winner.

I loved this story. So worth the cost.

Vocal artist did a great job.

What you hear ruins the book

I was so distracted by the narrators voice, inflection and intonation that the content of the book was ruined. I have veered away from purchasing other books with the narrators on this book. Other Odette Stone books have been very entertaining so I was disappointed by this one.

Absolutely worth your money!!!!!

I have never once in my life left a review that says you MUST BUY this book; but this book is so worth your time, attention and money. The author was bran new to me and i have to say I'm hooked. The narrators have done a brilliant job. This book is so well written that you fill that uou are immersed into this fictional world. Zoey is an interesting character that will draw you into her personal story. Ryan is the time of man that every one of us women dream of. (At least this woman). I hope that there is more books coming. I need to hear Mica's story. And Justin has me so curious.

Sports romance

I am not a fan of sports of any kind but this series has turned me into a Hockey freak. Loved how this was a departure from the storyline of the first book and can't wait for the next installment on audio.
