Publisher's Summary

From the coauthor of the #1New York Times bestseller Lone Survivor comes the riveting behind-the-scenes story of the three NavySEALs who captured the "Butcher of Fallujah" and, having been charged with prisoner abuse, their long road to justice.

On a daring nighttime raid in September 2009, a team of Navy SEALs grabbed the notorious terrorist Ahmed Hashim Abed, the villainous "Butcher of Fallujah," the mastermind behind the 2004 murder and mutilation off our American contractors. In this no-holds-barred account, bestselling author Patrick Robinson reveals for the first time the entire story, from the night the SEALs stormed the al-Qaeda desert stronghold to the accusations and legaltwists and turns that followed to the cut-and-thrust drama in the court room where the fate of three American heroes hung in the balance.

Not going to make you feel good

This is the story of Navy SEALs who are persecuted for simply doing their job. Makes me sad to think that the U.S. Navy would commit such a terrible betrayal.

Amazing

This was simply put and amazing story. It depicts how political correctness in our armed forces changes everything. Also shows how willing our own government is to turn on its Heroes

ASTONISHING!

IM SHOCKED AND DUMBFOUND AT HOW OUR MEN WERE TREATED BY OUR OWN GOVT BASED ON AN IRRESPONSIBLE MP THAT HAD NO BUSINESS BEING IN A WAR ZONE LET ALONE BE TASKED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF WATCHING A POW. LISTEN TO THIS AND PREPARE TO BE APPALLED!

Still upsets me

I read this book in literary form when first released. In fact I have read all of Patrick Robinson’s books. This book still angers me and continually reminds me how out of whack the military justice system is.

Awesome

Happy about the outcome of the book and as a veteran, I am appalled that it even happened and how the general got promoted. However, it’s like I saw numerous times in the military MUMU!

Duh...does Patrick Robinson know what hyperbole is

Yes the U.S. Navy and the SEALS are fine organizations filled with battle-ready patriotic warriors and we owe them our support and heartfelt thanks.

However the endless hyperbole that Patrick Robinson has adopted in this book is so excessive as to be amateurish. I've read all his books and I'm amazed and disappointed with the style he has used here. I don't think I can listen to another word of it. Too bad!

Great story but way too long

This book could have been 2 hour story including the background. Half of the book was telling over and over again how every single Seal and lawyer was amazing person... I believe it's true but starts to feel like filling to get full book out of this story.

A little confusing...

Would you consider the audio edition of Honor and Betrayal to be better than the print version?

In the beginning it seem a little hard to follow because they had the three story lines of each SEAL. It seemed like they bounce back and forth. Not sure if it was just me, probably would have been easier to read. It was a great book after the first couple chapters.

What did you like best about this story?

The non guilty verdicts of course. Just makes me mad at the brass. I would want to know if Obama was the driving force of the prosecution after Gitmo.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really like the first trial and how the defense questioned both witnesses.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I listening it to over a couple weeks while hiking.
