Publisher's Summary

He set out to be the good son, but the streets had a different plan.

Born to one of New York City's most notorious crime families, Shai Clark has always managed to be a good kid. A college hoops star, Shai shunned the world that his father had created and focused on his dreams of going pro. Tommy, Shai's trigger-happy older brother, is next in line for the throne and rules under his father through brute force. But Poppa has bigger plans for Shai.

The situation soon turns ugly when Poppa is murdered and Tommy is removed from the equation. Suddenly Shai finds himself at the head of his father's empire, and the streets are thrown into chaos. Unable to sit idly by while the Clarks' underworld empire is pillaged, Shai takes up his father's mantle and brings his game to the streets. He quickly learns that there are two sides to every coin, and the streets hold no mercy for the weak.

It was an okay story

The story was okay. There was plenty of action however there were too many characters. There was definitely room for improvement.
The narrator did a good job.

It’s a lot of characters

I had to listen too chapters multiple times, because I couldn’t keep up with everyone. However, the storyline is great, I think it would be better as an movie. If it was a movie you could see faces and keeping up with the characters wouldn’t be so complicated. Furthermore, that won’t stop me from reading more books by this author..

The killing Spree

This story line was not good. There was kill, kill and more kill. They also was running drugs. It was about the big time drug dealers. They dealt with kilos. It was mafia style.I listen to it thinking it will get better. It didn't per my thoughts. The narrator Nicole Smalls was great.Thats what kept me listening.
If u into reading about mafia and torture and killings. This is the book to read.

Good story but…

Normally Honey Jones is on point but the narration was a little off. The story was good, had me wishing Papa hadn’t died and Tommy would listen to ANYONE. Looking forward to the next edition.
