Black-rimmed glasses to fit the job description - check.
The biggest a-hole in the world for an ex - check check.

When you're born, you never know what life will throw at you. You just make the best of it no matter what happens. That's pretty much been my go-to since infancy. Then, the charming, bald-headed, blue-eyed, Brent came along, and I thought all the suck in life had been flushed down the drain. Ha! That's when my true journey began - motherhood.

This is my story on how I took life by the gonads when I decided I needed closure from my past - my father's sudden death in particular. But what happens next wasn't anything I expected.... It's hopeless...shattering...exciting...scary...joyful...priceless...and I owe it all to one man.... Bear, a chapter president of the Sacred Sinners Motorcycle Club.

Hopeful Whispers

Pregnant - check.
Single mother of two - check.
Biker best friend - check.
Ex that's still a d-bag - check check.

New Years is the time for new beginnings. I thought I'd gotten that when I visited Texas over Thanksgiving. Then again, very little has changed. I'm still a librarian living in the same house. My daughters are growing up fast. Sure, I've acquired a new best friend, who's convinced me it's time to give dating a fair shot. Which isn't exactly easy when I'm pregnant with an asshole's baby.

Does that complicate matters? Sorta. But there's nothing left for me to do except move on. The jagged edges of my shattered heart have been polished, questions answered, and blank holes from my past plugged. Now, I'm ready to take the plunge into uncharted waters to build a happier life...until a bomb comes along and tests my strength like never before. Nobody f--ks with my family and gets away with it. Not even you.

Stress that could make even the strongest woman crack - check check.

A year ago, if you told me I’d wind up where I am today, I’d have you committed for insanity. Now that I’ve opened Pandora’s box and survived more than most have in their lifetime, Death has knocked on our doorstep and welcomed himself inside. Learning that life isn’t always fair comes at a price.

The question is, how much do I have to pay before I get a real chance at happiness, or am I destined to be alone forever?

Another great series

I love how Bink Cummings writes, I can really picture every place she describes, the story lines are hot, heartbreaking, funny and everything else that’s good. What was wears was the groceries sene when the are about to pay and one of the brothers is helping there are some weird clicking sounds where I think the male voice should have been, that threw me off. Either way I love Bink Cummings books, I m so happy I found her books.

Waste of my Life Force

I suffered for 20 hours with this garbage. Well maybe 3 hours of it were ok. Usually when there is a big, dominant alpha, they hold their emotions to tightly. This guy, was physically dominant and an emotional wreck. He was such a weak, selfish mess. He didn’t deserve Kat, he didn’t even deserve Vanessa. Usually there is some trauma or demon that festers and drives the MMC to behave badly, not this guy. His only redeeming quality seemed to be his prowess, and just…no. nope. He abandoned his kids and got to be the hero. No pushback from the girls.

Kat. She’s had a hard life. Initially I was on board with her. She’s done a great job raising her girls on her own. Her empathy was just ridiculous. When you put others people’s well being over your own when they have constantly hurt you and you are responsible for 2 kids, nope. 20 hours of her pretending to be strong and adult and then being unbelievably irresponsible, it was exhausting. She never made him take responsibility. She never guarded her heart. This wasn’t a happy ending, it was a pathetic woman allowing a man to use, discard, and humiliate her. The fact that he got her pregnant, promising to be with her and then marrying another woman who he also got pregnant, f-no. And just letting everyone off the hook? She wasn’t a kind and decent person, she was a doormat that accepted what a man gave her because he was too hot for her? 20 hours of her being “fat and pregnant.”

By the end I really hoped she would die in childbirth so Ryker would have to clean up his whole mess. Another alternate ending, she ends up with Kade. I’d take that psycho over Ryker any day. He actually showed her genuine love and respect.

Performance- the male accent, worst fake southern accent I have ever heard. I’ve lived in the south my entire life and I’ve met people from the backwoods of nowhere that I’d rather hear read a menu. If you can’t do the accent, speak I’m your normal voice.

I was so emotional!!! In a good way

This book made me mad cry and laugh so hard I woke my kids up at one point during the first book. The made up quality was fun and consuming I didn’t want to stop listening. it was realistically relatable too speaking as someone who was left while pregnant also. Thank you for this book it was what I needed and wanted in a book and so much more

true love's rough road

I admired Kat's strength and perseverance, but
she frustrated me more times than nought with some of her actions and reactions. You can't blame everything on pregnancy hormones !!!! She had a lot of cray times. Ryker was strong and had tenacity. His heart was true for the one woman he loved, and he tried to do the right thing for the other one. Vanessa was a real waste. He continued to try to do what was best
for all of them- kids included. Kat was a bit blind to the truth at times-grrr!! Kat's immature temper tantrums after Ryker's near death experience made me want to throat punch her-hard! The labor scenes with Ryker and his brother had me howling! Perfect ending. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrators did a great job bringing it to life.

I just couldn't

I did not like the hero of the story and frankly could not tolerate the heroine either. I could not finish and only made it a few chapters.

meh

I struggled with this. the story was good, but the language the Hero used wasn't really that believable. I thought his brother would have made a better Hero. The Male narrator did a decent job, but the female Narrator lacked depth. I felt she was reading and not performing. She mispronounced a lot of words and just fell flat. Some editing issues, specifically at the end of (I think) chapter 24 - the grocery store scene.

Could have been good but......

This could have been good but the narrators make it hard to listen to. I normally love dual narrative books but I made it to the second book and just couldn’t do it anymore. The male narrator has an awful fake Texas twang accent. The female narrator isn’t as bad but doesn’t really have any sort of emotion in her reading. The story itself isn’t horrible just not anything exciting. I won’t be continuing with this story.

Brilliant

Love this box set i've had the pleasure of reading it and now i can listen to it to when adulting gets in the way of reading time. Kat and Rykers story isn't an easy one, full of ups and downs heartbreak, betrayal but thankfully a happy ending of sorts .

loved it

I have read this book several times but the audio gives it a whole new level. The narration was just right, the voices in my opinion fit just right.
