Yesterday I was a teenager waiting tables in Manhattan, and today, monsters exist and I can see them. Overnight I’m thrown into the realm of the Watchers, a society of earthbound angels split into two factions: the Shades, whose powerful dark magic is given to them by the fallen angels, and the Lumens, whose abilities are bestowed on them by the archangels of Avalon. They’re on opposite sides of a brutal war, and I only have a few days to pick which side I want to join. I’m ready to choose when the Shades force my hand by cursing someone I love.

Since I was born, I was destined to be one thing - the Alpha’s mate. It should be every girl’s dream. Not mine, though. He’s too dark and damaged, and I’ve got a secret he can never know: I’m not a true wolf. Instead of waiting for him to figure out that I’m an abomination, I left on my 15th birthday. But I didn’t go far. No way in hell would I let him drive me from the town I love. Ten years later, I’m still hiding in plain sight. When I occasionally see him on the street - deadly, sexy, powerful - I just walk by. Keep my head down. Until that night.

The Eternal Cliffhanger
Ok. Great story. Amazing characters--most of the time. Big, exciting finish and then? Nothing! The next book in the series picks up with completely different characters. WTH?? I won't be listening to the sequels anytime soon. I think this kind if ending is completely irresponsible on the part of the author. If you want readers to be invested in characters, you can't just yank them away and start over with new people. Other authors have successfully added new characters without tossing out the old--think Jaymin Eve's "First World" series--so I truly don't understand the decision to go this route. Not a happy camper.

Run! Don't walk, away from this book.
Confusing plot, weak heroine. Premise seemed to have potential, but never satisfying at any point. Made no sense. Bismal ending. The next sequel does not take off at the ending of this book, which it promised it would.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book and their story. I regret not having a chance to read it sooner. The story is absolutely amazing, I never expected the turns and twists in it. I loved being surprised by the characters and their actions. And the story is so original, I have never read anything like that before.
Over all I have to say, Wow just wow. Brilliant writing. I really enjoy the way Melissa writes, and OMG what is she doing to me??? That ending just left me desperate for more! I can't wait to read the next of the series.

Fantastic version
Would you listen to Hope(less) again? Why?
I would definitely listen to it again. I love the story and the characters.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Clay is my favorite character. I love how protective he is of Gabby all while giving her the space she needs.
Which scene was your favorite?
Vet
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed until I cried at some of the snarky dialogue. There were times I was angry with Gabby because of the way she treated Clay.

It was just “ok”
Was expecting a good wolf/human story. Turned into a boring , make it end, book. Main character,Gabby, was a one dimensional no real personality. Nothing to connect the reader to it. The hero, Clay, was okay but no Strong male lead here, more an omega. Really disappointed in this read. Expected so much more with the description, book underperformed.

Took too long to get to the point.
Any additional comments?
This was a painfully long book to listen to. The story just went on and on with no real plot until the last third of the book. You got your typical werewolf mate bond/heroine in denial story except werewolf stays mostly in wolf form and never speaks to her. She spends the whole book trying to interpret what he is thinking. I get the whole actions speak louder than words but without anything else going on in the story it got old real fast. By the end I just didn't care anymore. This series is not for me. Would have been better if there had been more about the plot and less about the werewolf/heroine interaction.

It was good for a light read.
At first I found it difficult to get into, but once I did and stuck with it, I found it growing on me. The first four chapters feels like a lot of exposition. But it allows for a bit of world building, even if it was a bit tedious at times. Once I sped up the read rate, it got more interesting and faster going. The main heroine is a teenager who is trying to find her way in this world, but I wished she didn't come across whiny at times. Interesting characters, and an ending that makes you want to continue the series. This is a YA novel that reads/sounds like a YA novel. Solid entry.

I loved this book so much but you best believe I went and read Clay’s point of view so fast! Also recommend his POV book. He is hilarious. I loved how Gabby stood her ground and really took the biting decision in and completely understood what it meant. I also like that she had time to learn about werewolves before finding her mate.

This is a well-written story. I will likely read the next book in the series. The narration added some additional depth.
