Introducing The Enchanted Files! Told in diary entries and other “documents”, this magical, modern-day new comedy series by the master of funny fantasy, Bruce Coville is filled with laugh-out-loud humor and heart. In the first hilarious Enchanted Files, Angus is a brownie. No, not the kind you eat! He’s a tiny magical creature that loves to do chores. Angus has just “inherited” a new human girl, Alex. To say that Alex is messy would be an understatement. She’s a total hurricane-like disaster - and she likes it that way, thankyouverymuch!

Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes. Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he's brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn't deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only thing he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety.

Even Better Than the Origami Yoda Series
If you're reading this review, you're probably a parent like me, and your kid has read Origami Yoda, Darth Paper, or the latest, the Fortune Wookiee. (And hopefully you have too!) My son and I both love these books, great kid's stories and lots of Star Wars. Hopefully Tom Angleberger writes a dozen of them.
So while we were waiting for Darth Paper to come out, we picked up Horton Halfpott, and to be honest, I didn't read this one until right before the author paid a Skype visit to my son's third grade class. (Highly recommended, Tom did not disappoint.) Having read all of his books now, Horton stands out by far as my favorite.
It's basically a mystery, written with a very dry British sense of humor, but not so dry that the kids miss out on the hilarity. Horton is the loveable hero, there are plenty of villains, and all of the characters are a riot.
When I needed something short and sweet between longer audiobooks, I went with this one, and now I love it even more. The narrator, Ron Keith, is perfectly suited for this tale, and he really, truly brings the story to life. Of all the books I've listened to since starting my Audible membership, it's funny that it would be a book for children that had the best narrative performance...
I think a lot of parents today are just big kids, I know I am. So whether this audiobook is for your little one, or maybe you just want to have an idea of what they're reading, give Horton a try. And if we're lucky, perhaps a sequel for this book too, Mr. Angleberger?
