If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. It's easier to copy a model than to make something new: doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1.

Publisher's Summary
The ultimate guide to building an app-based business - now revised and updated
Apps have changed the way we communicate, shop, play, interact and travel, and their phenomenal popularity has presented possibly the biggest business opportunity in history.
In How to Build a Billion Dollar App, serial tech entrepreneur George Berkowski gives you exclusive access to the secrets behind the success of the select group of apps that have achieved billion-dollar success.
Berkowski draws exclusively on the inside stories of the billion-dollar app club members, including Instagram, Whatsapp, Snapchat, Candy Crush and Uber, to provide all the information you need to create your own spectacularly successful mobile business. He guides you through each step, from an idea scribbled on the back of an envelope through to finding a cofounder, building a team and attracting (and keeping) millions of users, all the way through to juggling the pressures of being CEO of a billion-dollar company (and still staying ahead of the competition).
If you've ever dreamed of quitting your nine-to-five job to launch your own company, or if you're a gifted developer, a seasoned entrepreneur or just intrigued by mobile technology, How to Build a Billion Dollar App will show you what it really takes to create your own billion-dollar mobile business.

More of a business business book.
The first part of the book discussed a few intersting bits on building a good app and then the rest of it was about the business side of running a company, and mostly about raising funds. A few well known apps were used as examples and discussed mostley thier figures, valuations and buyouts. I enjoyed some of analysis tools and metrics for measuring the profitability and effectiveness of an app, but otherwise found the 2nd half of the book a bit dry. This is definitely a book more suited for entrepreneurs than developers.

There is nothing that this book teaches you
Everybody knows Whatsapp sold for $19 billion, snapchat was good and Instagram was acquired and so on and so forth. The author clearly has no idea of how to build an app like that and is beating around the bush , repeatedly talking about apps that the world already knows. I have never rated an audio book earlier and I felt compelled to rate this, because of my disappointment.
