Publisher's Summary

A shy, tangle-tongued debutante and a former soldier make an unlikely but fated match as they hasten for the Isle of Skye.

Orphaned heiress Olivia de Vere should have the world - or at least the men of the ton - at her feet. But when she’s thrown out of a young ladies’ academy, Olivia doubts she’ll ever find someone who will love her, rather than her bank account. To make matters worse, her dissolute cousin Felix is determined to marry her against her wishes. A virtual prisoner in her guardians’ London townhouse, Olivia can’t help but develop a tendre for her neighbor, a handsome Scottish marquess.

Battle-scarred in more ways than one, Hamish MacQueen, Lord Sleat, has braved many dangers in life. But nothing has quite prepared him for the shock of having a young child dumped on his doorstep with a note claiming she’s his daughter. Just in the nick of time his pretty neighbor appears, offering to act as a nursemaid for the young girl on their journey to his estate in Scotland. He suspects she has her own reasons for wanting to flee the country....

The close traveling quarters leads to a fierce attraction between Olivia and Hamish that seems impossible to resist. But when ghosts from the past and monsters from the present threaten to tear them apart, will their unlikely love survive?

The Narration was Torture

I have listened to the three published audiobooks in the series; books one and two were narrated by Sienna Frances and book three had the unfortunate luck of being narrated by Elizabeth Jasicki.

Ms. Jasicki’s narration was torture. She read the novel slowly, not in a manner to lend it any weight or to afford the listener the luxury of immersing oneself in the plot, instead causing discomfort, aggravation, and a blinding rage in the hope she would Finish. The. Damn. Story. And. Shut. The. *%#@ Up. Each male character sounded as though he was a drunken sot or on the verge of gasping out his last breath. The female characters were barely discernible, one from the other. All “spoke” as though they were in slow motion. And, I swear to God, if I EVER hear “excellent” voiced in that manner again, I’ll pull my hair out.

I have vowed to avoid any audiobook narrated by Elizabeth Jasicki.

Shamefully Graphic

I respectfully suggest that the author, who is a great admirer Jane Austen, be brave enough to try to write without explicit sex.

Perfection!

The narrator has a broad range of voices accents and intonation. Her performance brought depth and emotion to this tale. The characters made transitions that complimented each other in graceful way.

Boring and many unanswered questions

This story had too many storylines and did not follow through on them. The story itself was very boring and I found myself just wishing for it to be over. Very disappointing as I enjoyed other books in this series. The narrator was fine, I just wish she had a better story to read

Living Scottish Rogues

Although these Regency romances are more of an escape than an intellectual pursuit, I was surprised that I had such strong reactions to it. There were moments I actually reared up. It surprised me. I do favour stories with highlanders and when the narrator can do a great brough. , I am drawn in even more. All in all, it was an enjoyable story. I am dulisappointed that I didn't realize this was the third book in a four book series. Although this didn't make a huge impact.?

Fun and fairytale-like romance

The story was enjoyable, and the narrator was good. The virtuous characters were likable, and the wicked ones were detestable.

Okay

Interesting way to weave characters with disabilities into a time when they are seldom mentioned during this time period. I had a hard time with the narrator until I increased the speed in which it was read. Then it was fine. Story was developed quickly with sub plots thrown into the mix. But it was well done.
