Publisher's Summary

Leadership guru John C. Maxwell and his friend Jim Dornan share their straightforward, effective way for making an impact on the world: make an impact on individual people. How? Through influence. How to Influence People will empower you on your journey to becoming a potent and positive influence in your relationships both great and small.

By pouring your life into other people, which is Dr. Maxwell's definition of "mentorship", you can truly make a difference. And when you have a meaningful impact on the lives of those around you - from your children and coworkers to your customers and the barista at your favorite coffee shop - it makes a difference in your life, too.

You'll learn to perceive the stages of influence in your relationships and skillfully navigate your progress - from perfect stranger, to helpful confidant, to inspiring mentor - until, ultimately, you attain the highest honor there is for an influencer: becoming a multiplier of other influencers.

Skeptical, tight on cash and I have no spare time...

I have zero cash to waste, zero time to spare and I was not sure if this app was worth buying. I have many J M books and plan to buy more but carving out the time to sit down is not realistic. I spend so much time on the road for my job. I crushed this book in 2 days. ( That gives you an idea of how much driving I do. ) This was an awesome buy and a great use of time. I look forward to hearing many more.

Good stuff

It was good but maybe I had higher expectations. Easy listening. It's good to listen to little chunks at a time to let the material sink in.

For Newbies

This book could've been named don't be a jerk. I could see it as a great asset for brand-new managers, but for me I didn't get much.

not all that it should be

What disappointed you about How to Influence People?

Reviews hyped it up more than it should be. I'm not half way through the recording and I can't help but think . This is why it is only $5.00 to buy. That's all it is worth.

Would you ever listen to anything by John Maxwell and Jim Dornan again?

Not if it's anything like this book.

What didn’t you like about Van Tracy’s performance?

Who? Sleep zone!

What character would you cut from How to Influence People?

The book.

Any additional comments?

Sorry to buy so negative, but I wish someone would have influenced me to not buy this book.

A bit dry

Valuable content. Delivery a bit dry and could be more animated. Some good take aways

This is a must read book for aspiring leaders

If you are a supervisor or manager and are struggling with getting the team motivated this is the audiobook for you. Also, if you are looking to mentor someone I'd strongly suggest getting a copy of this book.

Good

I give this audiobook 4 stars because although it’s got great content, it may actually go on for longer than it needs to due to its repetitiveness. It’s still very much worth a listen for a different take on influence, especially if you haven’t read/heard many pieces on the subject before.
