Publisher's Summary

You don't have to believe in God in order to experience God. (Deepak Chopra)

The celebrated author of Ageless Body, Timeless Mind and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success has created his most ambitious and important work yet, a runaway international best seller that has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to rethink their concept of God.

According to Chopra, the brain is hardwired to know God. The human nervous system has seven biological responses that correspond to seven levels of divine experience. These are shaped not by any one religion (they are shared by all faiths), but by the brain's need to take an infinite, chaotic universe and find meaning in it. How to Know God describes the quest each of us is on, whether we realize it or not. For, as Chopra puts it, "God is our highest instinct to know ourselves."

This audiobook makes a dramatic and enduring contribution to that knowledge.

Critic Reviews

"I congratulate Dr. Deepak Chopra for this wonderful book, reaching out to many, many readers, on a subject of spirituality but with a scientific approach. And I absolutely agree with Dr. Chopra's view that 'If we want to change the world, we have to begin by changing ourselves.' This is the same message that I have always been conveying." (The Dalai Lama)

"This book, which unfolds the knowledge of God-consciousness, is at once a map of Spirit and a map of your own deepest Self." (Ken Wilber, author of Integral Psychology

"The most important book about God for our times. This book is a magical stairway to ascend to a life-changing experience of the sacred." (Robert Thurman, Ph.D., professor of religion, Columbia University)

Amazingly Eye Opening

Would you consider the audio edition of How to Know God to be better than the print version?

Yes, I think I would have gotten lost in a printed version as the concepts are quite complex.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I nearly cried toward the end but I can barely explain why.

Any additional comments?

Wonderful mind expanding view of our existence.

Wow

I am a religious person. I attend church for hours every week. I was raised praying multiple times a day. This book has taught me more about God and myself than 40 years of religion has. And it does it without bringing religion down. It explains why we have religion and then shows us how and why we need more. Beautiful

Thought provoking book

Read this for more of a spiritual connection with what you believe is the notion of God and how to see its power in everything, everyday. However the narrator, Deepak Chopra, did not read the book word for word and delivered a very monotone reading of his book. He jumped around the paragraphs and skipped the portions of personal examples and uplifting stories he wrote in the book. Im not sure why he did not read those touching stories or why he left them out as the narrator of his own writings. I enjoy following along with the actual book in hand but Chopra made this very difficult as he skipped through most of the best parts.

Deeply Satisfying!

Few authors works leave me feeling intellectually and spiritually satisfied. DC's works accomplish this and so much more and this volume is no exception.

Can't Understand Accent - Frustrating.

Would you try another book from Deepak Chopra and/or Deepak Chopra?

As much as I like him, I don't think I would try another book if he is the narrator.

What do you think your next listen will be?

More Eckhart Tolle. He is easy to listen to and understand.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His heavy accent combined with a fairly low/soft voice makes it really difficult to follow. I like to listen to books on earbuds while I'm at work, and I had to rewind so many times to figure out what he just said, that I never even followed his story. It may be different in a super quiet room with no other distractions.

What character would you cut from How to Know God?

I don't think it's that kind of book - but I couldn't understand him, so maybe it is? Maybe it isn't?

I am a Chopra Fan but….

I am a Chopra fan but
I’m halfway through this and still have no idea what this has to do with knowing God.
Serious science must mumbo-jumbo and long rambling. This book is exhausting me.
Best to walk away now.
