Story
In Long Live Latin, Gardini shares his deep love for the language - enriched by his tireless intellectual curiosity - and warmly encourages us to engage with a civilization that has never ceased to exist, because it’s here with us now, whether we know it or not. Thanks to his careful guidance, even without a single lick of Latin grammar listeners can discover how this language is still capable of restoring our sense of identity, with a power that only useless things can miraculously express.

Story
This volume celebrates six such languages - Ancient Greek, Latin, Old English, Sanskrit, Old Irish, and Biblical Hebrew - by first introducing listeners to their most distinctive features, then showing how these linguistic traits play out in short excerpts from actual ancient texts. It explores, for instance, how Homer's Greek shows signs of oral composition, how Horace achieves striking poetic effects through interlaced word order in his Latin, and how the poet of Beowulf attains remarkable intensity of expression through the resources of Old English.

Title is Misleading
A rushed list of weird suggestions for memorizing a deck of cards. Nothing new or effective. Latin is in the Title only. Go somewhere else for Latin words, they are not here. I can't remember anything from the book so how is that for customer satisfaction. None is right! I reread the book without presumptions. You are given a technique for memorizing "fill in the blank " which is why the title is misleading and why you will find many ebooks restating the technique for German, Medical Words, etc.

Not specific to Latin. Use of violent imagery.
The premise of using imagery to aid memory can be useful, however the idea of using violent imagery may be upsetting to some. If you have a history of trauma I would not recommend this book. Moreover, halfway through the book, I have not found the descriptions of how to memorise specific to Latin.

Tedious
Verbose and rambling. I am unable to comment on the effectiveness of the technique because I got so bored with the details of the author’s life that I didn’t get to the end. And anyway none speaks Classical Latin these days.
