Story
Have you ever desired, deep within your soul, to make a comfortable full-time living from a farming enterprise? Too often people dare not even vocalize this desire because it seems absurd. It's like thinking the unthinkable. After all, the farm population is dwindling. It takes too much capital to start. The pay is too low. The working conditions are dusty, smelly and noisy: Not the place to raise a family. This is all true, and more, for most farmers.

A couple working six months per year for 50 hours per week on 20 acres can net $25,000 to $30,000 per year with an investment equivalent to the price of one new medium-sized tractor. In a day when mainline farm experts predict the continued demise of the family farm, the pastured poultry opportunity shines like a beacon in the night, guiding the way to a brighter future.

Informative, helpful book.
Unlike some other reviewers I did not have any problems with listening to the reader. I found the content relative, detailed, and helpful in planning for my own move to homesteading. The ideas are useful, varied, and easily adaptable to skill sets and products not listed specifically in the book, although the ideas given are an excellent springboard for brainstorming. I plan on purchasing a paper copy to keep as a reference.

Very helpful and informative.
I really enjoyed listening to this book it shoots straight and tells you what mistakes there are to be made in first persuing homesteading. The author and his included interviews with other homesteaders don't negate your drive to have a life less encumbered but instead show you ways to achieve that life with eyes opened wide to the trials you will face. Many of the desires expressed spoke directly to my heart and unlike the unhelpful criticism of friends and family let me know that I am not alone in the desire to live a life less hectic and more natural. I have much praise for this publication. If you want to adopt a life at your own pace, seek a peaceful times passed existence or just leave the modern world's drive for the dollar behind and gain a bit of freedom this book is for you! I purchased the audio book yesterday and I have listened to it thrice. Thank you, Tim Young!
