Publisher's Summary
Many people know what 3D printing is, and others may have even seen a 3D printer in action. However, few people know how to create 3D models, much less use their printer.
Currently, understanding and utilizing the technology to design and manufacture products, (as opposed to "things") still proves difficult for a myriad of reasons. Like any growing, innovative technology, as quality, speed, and costs are optimized, the adoption rate and potential uses start to flourish. 3D printing is a rising technology that will soon disrupt many industries across the economic spectrum.
Democracy of manufacturing:
3D printing is dubbed the "democracy of manufacturing". Imagine, anyone can design and create anything for anyone, anywhere. The democratization of media through self-publishing tools has spawned an age where everyone can easily produce and publish as an artist, producer, director, or writer. With the Internet and 3D printing, the same change is soon to come to objects. Before long, people will be able to design, print, and sell products from the comfort of their own homes.
However, despite all the hype for 3D printing, the true potential of a 3D printing "factory-on-demand" is still often overlooked. There are many books out there that teach you how to create 3D printed objects. However, there has been no guide, so far, on how to turn 3D printing into a business. This audiobook fills that gap by being the first guide on how to monetize your 3D printing skills. In addition to describing the technology in detail, it walks you through all the practical steps of turning your 3D printing skills into a business. The book will benefit both complete beginners and those more advanced in 3D printing technology.
This audiobook includes practical advice, such as a list of the best software and hardware on the market today, discusses environmental advantages of 3D printing, and the advantages of a shared economy.

Not Outdated For 2020
As the prices of home based 3d printers have come down since this book was written (2015), many names of many manufacturers of 3d printers, CAD software and resources are thriving in 2020. It is quite the reality check to hear how far these printers have come down (or hovered) from their price points of 2015. The audio book is excellent. Narrated very well. And while the author comes from an engineering background, I did not find being talked "over". The vocabulary was not foreign or too scientific, easily understandable and precise enough to not be overly lengthy in description. Pick up this ebook or audible if you are remotely interested in choosing a printer for profit making. Chapters isolate aspects of business that showcase the plethora of ideas behind each niche of building a business in this field. At under 3 hours for audible, this is an easy to digest wealth of knowledge that I would recommend to anyone interested in this subject, particularly if they have a tinker or maker mentality.

Seems more like a google search
I think overall the book is pretty helpful however I didn't like that so much of the time was used literally listing off outdated things and prices that could easily be covered with a simple google search.
I would prefer my credit over the little knowledge
