This is not a lecture from a business professor.

This is a how to of practical, immediately usable knowledge from someone who's gotten it done. Intertwined with entertaining personal stories that are bound to amuse and add insight. Not one to sugarcoat, Shields shares the ups and downs, the professional challenges, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat! I most thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it highly to anyone who has started or who is contemplating starting their own business.

Teaches how to make money.

I have read many other books of this sort, The Purpose is Profit is unique because it is more than the usually "how-to" instruction manuals. Instead of strictly stating lessons, the authors do a wonderful job of framing all lessons in the context of personal stories. This is extremely beneficial as it allows the reader to relate their own circumstances to the stories and learn in a way that is geared towards their specific situation.

Good basics with some useful details for product-type businesses

I’ve been listening to a lot of books on starting a business. This goes over the basics of a product-based business with good details on legal business formats & types of accounting.
LLC vs. PLLC vs LLCP vs Corporations vs Sole Proprietorship.
The narrator reminded me of someone who reads bedtime stories. It was very matter of fact with boring inflection. Still worth listening to though.

I just couldn’t get past the reader. I found myself deep in thought somewhere else. Great stuff to fall asleep to. I can’t even tell you if it was any good or not and I really did try.

It is a guide on starting your own company.

The book is somewhat of an entrepreneurial autobiography for the author himself, Mr. Greg Shields . Through his trial and tribulations he speaks from mostly personal experience when he purveys his ideas on the entrepreneurial journey. In this case, his journey and subjective experiences are immensely important. A prospective reader should note what kind of company he started and that advice coming from the purview of a B2C entrepreneur would likely be different in many aspects.

Great overview

As per my review regarding the audiobook package I recently listened to on forensics accounting and audit I have to say I was not disappointed with this one. Hearty congratulations again to the author and the narrator. Familiarity with accountancy terms, bookkeeping terms and company financial statements certainly does help to get more from this book as a slightly more detailed knowledge and familiarity with such terms definitely helps and makes for smoother listening. I am confident that the other books in the series will provide this facility.
