Very informative and personal

The only thing I would have liked are suggestions for spouses, etc, who are trying to help. My long time girlfriend has been suffering these symptoms for years and it has been a horrific rollercoaster for me and our two young children of 9 and 5. The impact on them is already showing clear, more so for my oldest. In and out of in-patient care, on and off medication, physical and mental abuse that comes and goes. It is very hard to convince someone affected by this illness to be honest with their doctor and I fear unless that occurs, true progress is nearly out of reach.

Compassion and fax

With Holly Holtz compassionate boys and Stephanie and Alan’s facts and opinions on schizo disorder makes this a great lunchtime read or just a quick read while you’re waiting I read at any time. I found this book to be very helpful and I found the author to be very compassionate.Although somethings are common sense it doesn’t hurt to remind us the best way to get through a bad time.

How to Survive Schizoaffective Disoder

The How to Survive series:

Mental health is important and this short book gives a glimpse into what Schizoaffective Disorder is. Stephanie Anne Allen is obviously very knowledgeable on the subject and comes across as very empathetic.

The narration by Holly Holt was very well done.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Not For Me

I suffer from this mental illness and have for over now years now, so Inwas expecting some useful tips and tricks. This book carries very basic topics, which will be great for people that have just started their journey with this illness, but is not for me. Not a waste of time, just not a miracle to me. The narrator wasn't terrible.

Very disappointing

the author states that she’s going to provide tools but she does not. This book lacks substance. Does not extend coping strategies but only at the very surface level. Would not recommend

How to survive series

I live with mental illness. This series did a great job of helping me understand different mental illnesses, and how to cope with them. These books weren’t too intellectual, meaning they didn’t get super technical, and spoke in a way that I could understand.

Think this might help? Forget it

An extremely lightweight book that may cause more distress than good. The so-called diagnostic chapter provides no insight at all. The causes of these illnesses are not religious based, so evangelism is no salvation at all. Assumptions seem to be that the reader comes from Bible-Belt USA. There are so many assumptions.
Please, if you or a loved one have been diagnosed with this illness, avoid this book. There is no real help here.
