We're in the middle of an epidemic of average. So-called "normal" people get up every day, go to work, do what's asked of them, leave promptly at five, and return home to sit on the couch and watch TV. Society tells us that this is what it means to lead a balanced life. Don't stress too much or work too hard. Your career isn't everything. But Grant Cardone thinks this preoccupation with balance has really just given an excuse to be mediocre.

A light book that contains few nuggets of wisdom
A light book that contains few nuggets of wisdom.
This book feels like a bit of a cash grab and comes across like a hobbled together series of blogs that are loosely tired around a light autobiography.
There is very little here other than a few nuggets of wisdom to ‘work hard’ and ‘keep trying’ at business until one good idea takes off.

Great business audiobook
First part of this audiobook is covering Mark's journey from early days, how he tried different things, went through some failures, and eventually found his way to success.
Second part covers strategies and he shares his own advice of what to do and what to avoid doing in business.

Interesting perspective from a billionaire
The book is structurally a mess but there are some useful tidbids and motivational messages within the text. Very short, so it's easy to listen to again. Certainly much better business success books out there but helpful in parts.
Side note: Cuban talks about giving the fans what they want (NBA Mavericks owner). A bit hypocritical to then stop playing national anthem at games which nobody wanted apart from himself.

Well worth the small cost
There's more in this book than you might assume for a shorter length piece of work. I'd suggest setting aside the time it takes to listen and taking a few notes of the key points. I'd say it's aimed at those wanting to start their business and it contains a mix of values-driven advice to make you think about your own behaviour and choices, to some very specific "how to" information, if you take time to really listen. This is set in the story of Mark Cuban's own story of his business experience and was well worth the small cost and time in my opinion.
