Learning how to write a book is easy. Learning how to write a book that doesn't suck and can actually make you money - and set you up for a full-time writing career is harder.
But it's nowhere near impossible. And it's far more doable than you can imagine. The trouble is, most books offering tips on how to write a book fail to address two key considersations: 1) Most self-published nonfiction books suck. 2) It's almost impossible to make a living from one self-published nonfiction book.

While writers might disagree over showing versus telling or plotting versus pantsing, none would argue this: If you want to write strong fiction, you must make your readers feel. The reader's experience must be an emotional journey of its own, one as involving as your characters' struggles, discoveries, and triumphs are for you. That's where The Emotional Craft of Fiction comes in. Veteran literary agent and expert fiction instructor Donald Maass shows you how to use story to provoke a visceral and emotional experience in readers.

Easy
I liked that I could understand how to write a book following your steps.
I felt more motivated that I could write a book about a MMA fighter because I know him and his story is true and a lot of people could relate.
I am scared to put my name out there and I am still a little nervous if my book becomes popular or fails what do I do?
This book helped me figure out that I need to start writing and find an editor and gave me ideas on how to get my book out there for a first time writer! Loved it, thank you!

I bought this book and listened to it on Audible. I LOVED IT!!! Kadavy breaks everything down into simple, bite-sized, VERY DOABLE pieces. He has a great speaking voice and is very easy to listen to. It's short (under an hour), but has a lot of great information. It was so helpful that I'm going to listen at least a second time...and then start writing MY book!

You need the heart to start...
You can start anytime with writing, David started later in life too. And I think one nice example is Sussana Clarke with her Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. As with almos everything, the key is to start a then be consitent (usually through little chunks). David accuratelly describes that brain reward for having a plan (to write a book here), but actually not starting anything, because it requires effort and investment, which hurts sort of and not doing anything is rewarding too. Anticipation of something can sometime bring more reward than hardships of the actual work, but thanks to it we dont start anything at all (in this case we dont write a book, but that this guide is actually about anything creative and actually about whole life too). Overall nice and comprehensive set of tools & tips.
The audiobook is a bit short for the prince and hence it is free available online, but I like somewhat tip this author.

Way More Than A How To Book!
I loved this audiobook because it addressed both the who & what instead of the how. Unfortunately, most people are interested in the how, not the who and what. Therefore, authors write “How To” books in an effort to meet the needs of their customers. Results however come from learning who you need to be or become and what skills will be required. This book discussed both! It identified who you need to become and what skills you will need to write your book in 11 steps. This book delivered on its promise!
