Publisher's Summary

The only way to escape is to die.

For 18 years I've suffered at the hands of the Hunters. For 18 years they've done their best to break me, to tear me open and unleash the terrifying monster that lives within.

Until the day they go too far.

When a desperate escape leads to another brush with death, I'm forced to place my trust in the hands of four formidable strangers. Wild and untamed, their feral natures call to me, their warrior hearts make mine come alive. And when they offer me a place to stay while I heal, I can't say no.

But the secrets I carry are deadly, and my past is a twisted, evil nightmare better left forgotten.

They may think they want to know me, they may think the secrets they guard behind hard eyes and closed expressions comes close to the ones I keep. But should they ever discover just who they've let into their home, just what I really am...their hatred could be the one thing that finally breaks me. And if I break, the darkness inside me will finally be free.

Contains mature themes.

Frustrating!!! Ridiculous even!

This was so stupid, I just finished listening to the book and I’m fuming. How can you write for 22hrs without anything happening? Without the book progressing even a little bit. I’m so pissed , I just wasted 22hrs of my time for nothing. Whatever happens in the first 2 chapters doesn’t progress till the end of the book. So basically reading the summary of the book is everything that happens for 22hrs. Don’t even waste your time reading this book, just wait for the second book and start right there. I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE THIS, WHO DOES THAT? When choosing the book I thought ‘’well it is 22hrs so for sure they will get somewhere in the book before we will have to wait for the second one but no. I want my money back No I’m getting my money back for this book. That will teach you a lesson for teasing people because I don’t know what this is, if not ridiculous.

Amazing but...

I want to preface this review by saying that I did thoroughly enjoy this book. Even with the following complaints/issues, I highly recommend listening. Despite what I am about to write, this book was really good at getting to your feels and you truly understood where the characters were coming from... Well except for maybe Lucien because he's pretty much a jackass through the whole thing but you still KIND of get where he's coming from. It will be better when we learn more of his story, I think.

That said, the book starts out really strong. Lots of action and your on the edge of your seat right up until she meets the guys. It shows down a bit, as you might expect because you need to introduce characters and relationships and everything... Then it stalls. It's just the same chapters written over and over again in circles. I kept waiting for a point when all would be revealed and they would finally FINALLY get cracking on making plans and...idk SOMETHING. However, I have 32mins left in the book and Hope hasn't even told them about her monster or what happened to her. It's basically twenty hours of the same thing over and over and two hours of actual plot momentum.

But I did love it, even being frustrated. I felt sorry for Hope and I wish she would just tell them so they can fix things. I know a lot of reviews will complain that she is weak but she actually is a victim and her trauma is recent enough that I can't blame her for being timid. It makes sense. Between what happened before the compound and then what happened after, you can't really expect someone to be strong and too not internalize everything as their fault.

Narrator's were awesome. I always love me some Aiden Snow. That sexy growly voice of his is the best.

Story doesn't progress

I've never written a review before but oh my god how can a 22hour book literally be nothing!? The first 3 chapters are repeated until 22 hours have passed. The entire book builds towards Hope expressing her best in tiny pieces to the men around her but ultimately tells them nothing!? This entire book builds up to her supposed to tell the everything but doesn't! I have never been more let down and upset by what a book is lacking.

Hunted

Loved the multiple POV with our characters! The inner dialogue and character development was detailed, bring this story to life. The narrators did a fantastic job with the characters switches- I could easily tell who each person was, regardless of use of names. I would’ve liked more action, however the development of each character was necessary for the storyline. I am definitely anticipating the second installment, hoping the action/ adventure picks up.

I am in LOVE!!!

Oh how I love having a book that is longer than the recent norms. It is fantastic to actually read a novel length book.

Ash is the Alpha of a small pack that came across an injured woman in the middle of the road. And that was just the beginning.

The characters have major depth and tragic pasts. Some of which we have only gotten a taste of.

This is a slow burn read, but heck, with the way they do things as a family, including playing monopoly, slow burn isn’t a bad thing.

They are more real to life, even though they are Lycans, than many stories and nothing is rushed.

I highly recommend this book and cannot wait until the next one is ready.

Also, the narrators are great and hey, who doesn’t love Aiden Snow???? Isabelle is also wonderful. This is my first time experiencing her as a narrator and I was glad to find that she is great!!

I’m taking a break...

I had to, take a break that is and listen to something else. The narrator is talented sure but I had to speed it up two levels because it is slow and...ok honestly I think it was the FMC narration that turned me off of Hope. I just didn’t really like her after awhile.

Let me explain, don’t get me wrong I completely understand the trauma and the fear and the crazy “it’s my fault” mentality and you really could not say that this was not realistic, but here is my problem...this is a fantasy book. I get realistic human behaviors but do I want to listen to the crazy for 21 hours on repeat. Nothing changed, she was damaged and contradicting the whole time and it’s not necessarily “entertaining” when you have to listen to the realistic thoughts and feelings of a thoroughly damaged girl for 21 hours. It would have been nice if the Author maybe did a “2 or 3 months later” thing so that we would be able to see some healing.

Also it was sooo wildly frustrating how one of the guys just couldn’t control himself. No matter the fact that he was aware of her trauma and cared SO much for the FMC but I guess not enough to stop snapping, raging, and needing to run off just because of some “look” or “thought” it just was sooo NOT attractive.

As far as my issues with the FMC, well like I said with her abuse, I completely get her fears and stuff. But at the same time she is apparently strong enough to get through such morbid abuse, but she it build absolutely no strength in her. What happened to that determination to survive or make it through? It’s like I don’t believe that she was tortured IN THE WAY she shortly explains (in her head). Also...why didn’t she just ask the guys to help her get to her uncle since that was her plan...her excuse was that she didn’t know if her uncle would help her...but she also didn’t know the guys that she met and on top of that, didn’t want to bring trouble for the guys...yet she stayed and continued to beat herself up over putting them in danger, but also freaked out and stopped thinking about the “trouble” she was putting them in if she thought they were kicking her out. Also it’s stupid to be like...I don’t want to get them hurt, but also don’t want to get them a chance to protect themselves by telling the truth.

I’m not saying I hated the book...but I definitely finished two other books in between listening to this book because I just couldn’t sit in the unchanging, stagnate, non eventful, environment for that long.

Lastly seriously there is like no magic. They talk about a monster but I’ve no idea what it does, what it is, why the compound wanted it...it comes to a point where being in the dark is just annoying or not getting answers after listening for 21 hours!

The internal monologues dragged the “beep” on!!! I mean I’m listening thinking...man it must be awkward standing and staring at someone for that long while they are waiting for you to respond. lol

She also describes the men, like every time she sees them. I dont understand why or how she described their appearances so much.

Loved it, book and audio!!

I LOVED this book!! I feel like I’ve been waiting YEARS for the second book to come out, ever though it’s barely been a year since I purchased this one; however, when I saw that the audiobook came out and was OVER 15hrs I couldn’t buy it fast enough. I’ve read it twice and just finished the audio. Erica Woods did an AMAZING job with the characters and the slow-burn relationship growth!! The barest hints of the past of Ash, Lucian and Jason and the past of gruff Rouark, kept me enthralled!!

If you are into a RH romance and don’t know where to start, I believe this is one of the best to begin with. If you like strong males and a heroine who wants to become more than her past, this is the book for you! If you REALLY love a slow-burn love story, push that purchase button and know you won’t regret it!!

I can’t WAIT for book two and while I hope both written and audio come out at the same time, I’ll be more than happy to just have the written book!!

AMAZING!

Let me start off by saying I was already OBSESSED with Hunted before the Audible version came out, I went back and forth on if I should buy the Audible version just because I already had what all the characters sounded like in my head and wasn’t sure if I’d be disappointed. With that said: if you are on the fence about buying the Audible version, BUY IT, it is SO WORTH IT, I promise!
OMG ya’ll.
Aiden and Isabelle are so amazing, they NAILED all of the characters! They got all the guys’ personalities and accents PERFECTLY and were able to nail Hope’s voice and personality as well. I am more in love with this book because of the amazing job they did! I hope they are able to narrate the whole trilogy!

Good but boring

The story is good, but it’s painfully long and slow! The writer is way to descriptive, I could draw out the layout of every room in the damn house they were staying in. I really don’t see the importance of listing every item of furniture ina room and where it is located! Nothing happening in this book, if you are looking for some hot romance this is not it! Skip and get something better

Slow burn but good

I was glad the reviews warned me that this would be a slow burn without much action — it’s true. The story is more about the victim of trauma acclimatizing to today’s world and her new… roommates.

I still enjoyed it throughout and can’t wait for all the good stuff promised in book 2, which I’ve already downloaded. If you’re looking for steam, I believe you need to be patient and wait for that one… I hope that’s the case!

I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure both narrators’ Scottish accents were terrible. But hey, the woman does a great job otherwise and the man’s voice is super deep. It works.

I got to 14 hours in and gave up.

this is a DNF for me.
I had written out all my complaints about this book, but I feel it would be unfair to the author, she put a lot of work into this book.
I saw all the great reviews and thought I would enjoy it, unfortunately it wasn't for me. which is a shame.

repetative

I'm afraid i need to leave a review, purley to say that the amount of re-relling of the emotion the characters felt, at the point of an event happening was so repatative and overused that I found myself rolling my eyes at the characters, which was hilarious. too much repeating description, I suspect a third of this book could be removed. the underlying story is really good, so I persevered, sometimes though through gritted teeth! sorry !

wow

I have re read hunted sooo many times that I honestly thought the audio version would be wasted on me. I thought I'd hate it... I think I loved this audio book more than reading, and when I say loved, I mean I was totally invested in it the entire 20odd hours and it totally prepped me for reading book 2 when that came out.

Amazing I need book 2

For 18 years Hope as suffered in the hands of the evil hunters trying to get her to show her monster within which she has buried and detached herself from. When the chance to escape comes she takes it and ends up being saved by 4 guys who she feels drawn too. I love her interactions with Ruarc and Jason even though Ruarc is very dominant and feels women should do as he says I don’t see him as the type to hurt her and Jason is the joker in pack but most is to hide his feelings towards her. Ash is very in control of himself and you warm up to him instantly and Lucien just makes you want to punch him but towards the end you will begin to warm up to him . I loved the dual narration and I am eagerly awaiting book 2 .

Could have been great but very frustrating to read

I loved the story line behind this book and the 4 different guys characters and the potential but it is so horrendously slow. My daughter and I are listening on audio book driving around Australia and we are quite literally annoyed by the pace and development. I don’t like to dnf books so about half way through I started to press the ‘plus 30 seconds’ button over and over and over until the story would move on. I can’t say I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fast paced book. This is slow in the extreme and the burn obvious through the book gets a little ignition in the last chapter. Having said that the audio performances were good although the accents are very confused. I think this book should have been condensed to half the size at most. A very frustrating read because I like the story line.
