Publisher's Summary
History is lost, America is no more, and only a few safe places remain.
Ranger Quinn thought that morning would be like so many others. A hangover, a day off before going back to work keeping the lower levels of Zion City safe from itself. But a crime so horrific, so brutal in its execution, turns those mundane expectations around.
An investigation into the death of a senior leader in their underground utopia safe from the harsh radioactive wastelands beyond their walls forces Quinn beyond that safety and into the world outside.
Following the trail of the killers between the pockets of surviving humanity, Quinn soon learns that not all is well beyond the walls, but the same could be said about Zion City.
Experience the start of a harrowing post-apocalyptic series from the best-selling author of After It Happened.

Ford and Bray!
DCF writes a hell of a book! Bray narrating is heaven. You can tell by the audio that Bray is having a blast reading this story. Ford puts us right into the action and our heroes are solving a murder. In best fiction style it's never easy and I can't wait for book 2! Well written and great narration. Highly recommend!

Beware - No Real Ending
The story and characters for this book are solid and RC Bray is incredible. But this book just ends without reaching any time of meaningful point or conclusion. It just stops in the middle of the story. I had to back up to make sure I didn't accidentally skip to the end by accident.
I suspect they want us to buy the next book in the Series, but the author or editor have to do a better job of wrapping up this book or they are just making us pay twice as much for one story. To be clear, I love series books, but all of them come to some type of meaningful point or climax. This book does not. And for this reason, I would not recommend this book. This seems like a weak attempt to get you to buy another book. Not happening for me.

CHILDISH...I THINK THIS FOR IS FOR TEENAGERS
I'm a big fan of Devon Ford's After It Happened, but unfortunately this book doesn't hold up. The characters are pretty thin, with the 'angry girl', 'alcoholic dude' and 'aristocratic guy who is now poor' being the main protagonists in this story. There just isn't enough compelling to make me want to know what happens to them. R.C. Bray is once again fantastic and I probably would have bailed early if it wasn't for him.

Ford - You Rock
I liked Devon Ford’s After it Happened series a lot, so it wasn’t a difficult decision to buy this new book from him.
If for no other reason, you have to buy this book so you can hear RC Bray do the voice for the character “Forge” (I may be spelling that incorrectly).

brilliant by DCF as always. there is a joke about "Find me a better tag team" well I challenge anyone to find a better tag team than a DCF book, narrated by RC Bray. Go together like whiskey and coconut water.
the book passed quick and always something "going on", no filling in time with pointless conversations or over explaining scenary, just perfect.
i get through audiobooks quite quick but I got through this quicker than any other of same length.

Absolutely fabulous
Unusual in that you follow three main characters in a chapter dedicated, but not out of context, or interrupting the flow of the story.
A magnificent, who did it plot, with a startling twist, which we need to wait for book 2 in the series to fully find out about.
The three main characters have very distinctive personalities that work and clash well together.
The fast flow, detail rich, chapters are brought to life as each character brings their own voice and thoughts to life.
A lot of humour interspersed with serious dialogue gives the story a good balance that does not weaken the plot.
Of course R. C. Bray must get his traditional mention as narrator, as he does make me laugh or bite my fingernails at the appropriate time.
Looking forward to the next exciting edition.

Mr. Ford and Mr. Bray - a partnership made in audiobook heaven.
First impressions of the main characters changed as the book progressed and I was left at end of this book eagerly awaiting the next - I'm an unashamed post-apocalyptic fan and this book ticked every single box for me Mr. Ford paints an excellent futuristic picture with an excellent writing style that R C. Bray just brings into life - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ There's 6 stars as 5 just doesn't seem enough

Another great tale from the mind of Devon C Ford
I like how Devon C Ford writes, he creates characters I can imagine talking with, characters I’d have a beer with, combining that writing with the performance of R.C.Bray and we are off to a good start.
The characters are well created, they seem to be building on a much larger story. The book feels like a nice start to a big story and I’m looking forward to book two.

It starts off very promising, but then it goes down hill and is a slog to get through. Infact, I'm still not finished and I'm not sure I will. The writing is very good, as is the narration, but the game plays a bit lacking. I think it's probably one for the kids.
