Story
I got a fake ID because I was bored, not because I planned on meeting anyone. But from the moment I saw Nick - all tall, dark, and librarian-y, with hardcover books falling out of his messenger bag and eyes that made me forget how to breathe - I knew I needed to know him better. So maybe I told a little white lie about my birthday. And maybe I went into the city again, and again, just so I could run into him. And maybe, on that last morning, I kissed him, because I knew it was goodbye. Except, turns out, it wasn’t.

Milo. Unusual. Quirky. Different. I’ve heard it all. I’ve accepted I’m not for everyone. When I find out I inherited a bookstore and apartment on a small East Coast island, I jump at the chance for a new life. Turns out I’ve also inherited a sexy, tattooed guy who not only rents the space next to my store but my apartment too. Gideon. I wasn’t looking for a roommate, but it’s not like I can stay at Milo’s place while he’s banished to a hotel. According to Milo, we’re bestie goals. And if he doesn’t wear pants at home, who am I to complain?

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

I've been in love with my best friend since forever. Okay, fine. Like, kindergarten. It started out platonic, obviously, but then became.... Nope. Still platonic. The problem is that Parker Ellis has been straight since forever. And that makes it difficult to convince him that the two of us are meant to be together. And now, there's no point. All is lost. He's gone and gotten engaged to his high-school sweetheart - which means I have to grin and bear it, while pretending to be the happy, supportive best man, while he prepares to commit his life to a woman.

Story
I spent college worrying about responsibilities and earning my teaching degree, so before graduation and moving to Atlanta with my best friend, Ross, I figure I deserve a little fun. I’ve never been with an older man, but the guy at the bar grabs my attention and doesn’t let go…for multiple rounds, all night long. The next day, when Ross introduces me to his dad, the last thing I expect is for him to be my hookup from the night before, in town from Atlanta for his son’s graduation. The best thing would be to pretend it never happened, which is easier said than done.

Payne. In search of: Room to rent. Must ignore the patheticness of a 40-year-old roommate. Preferably dirt cheap as funds are tight (nonexistent). There’s nothing sadder than moving back to my hometown newly divorced, homeless, and lost for what my next move is. When my little brother’s best friend offers me a place to stay in exchange for menial duties, I swallow my pride and jump at the offer. I need this. I also need Beau to wear a shirt. My new stepbrother is insufferable. You'd think it wouldn't matter since I won't be here for long, but this guy gets under my skin like no one ever has. All-American, baby-faced, blue-eyed band dork and star soccer player. Everything about him is the picture of perfection—unlike me. I don't think Do Gooder knows I'm starting senior year late. Look, when I met the sexy, witty Brit on the streets of London last night, I had no idea who he was. He was just that hot guy I wanted to have a drink with, so I asked him out for my first evening in town. One thing almost led to another. After a midnight kiss, we made plans for a whole lot more the next day. But when I unlock the door to my rental in the morning, the English hottie is lounging on the couch like he lives here too. Great. For the next year, I’ll be sharing a tiny flat with the sexiest guy I’ve ever known.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

In my defense, I was left alone with a bottle of single-malt and a lifelong penchant for protecting my baby sister. Still, that's no excuse to send 10 drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake. If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. Publisher's Summary
That kiss definitely didn’t mean anything. It couldn’t have...right?
Micah: Hunter Westing is not who I’m supposed to end up with. The guy might look like a walking wet dream, but he’s got the intelligence of a doorknob and the emotional range of a toaster. Actually, that might be an insult to toasters - at least they’re not usually homophobic. If life were fair, I wouldn’t have to spend more than 20 minutes in Hunter’s company.
But if life were fair, I wouldn’t have lost my best friend and her husband in a freak accident two months ago, leaving me and Hunter as guardians of their infant daughter, Bea.
So here we are - Hunter and me, living together and raising a baby. But it’s not easy - especially not when the past I’ve been trying to outrun comes back to haunt me. The worst part? Hunter won’t stop being nice about it. The guy’s a jerk - why’s he suddenly being all kind and understanding?
And more importantly - why the hell did he kiss me last night?
If you think I’m ever going to forget you, you’re wrong. I’ll always remember what we had. And I’ll always want you.
Hunter: Listen - I never asked for this. I never asked for my parents to scare me into silence, making me afraid to be who I am. I never asked for my brother, the one person I was close with, to disappear on me, leaving only his daughter behind. And I definitely never asked for Micah - sweet, inexplicable Micah, who talks a mile a minute and leaves me torn between aggravation and breathlessness - to come along and turn my life upside down.
All I wanted was to make a life for myself that my parents couldn’t control. To carve out something small and quiet, if not exactly happy. But then Micah explodes into my world and God help me, I - I want him. In ways I haven’t let myself think about for years. But as I learn more about Micah’s past, I know he deserves so much more than I can give. I can’t be the person he needs, can I?
So why can’t I remember that, now that I’m holding him?
Hunter’s Heart is Book 4 in the 8 Million Hearts series. While each book can be listened to on its own, they're even more fun to listen to together. Hunter’s Heart is a 115,000 word m/m romance full of snark, sweetness, and a healthy serving of steam. Enemies-to-lovers and surprise-baby themes. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.

A Family Created From Love
Hunter’s Heart is the fourth book in the 8 Million Heart series, a contemporary romance series. These books should be read in order for maximum enjoyment, but Hunters Heart could be read as a standalone.
I was so excited to read Hunter’s Heart because I adore Micah. He’s such an interesting and fascinating character that wormed his way into my heart. There was a lot of angst in this book, especially in the beginning; however, it was balanced out by the love between the characters and their sweet moments. The ending was delightfully happy and I only fell more in love with Micah.

Seriously?? Nearly 14 hours of angst??
Michael Fell’s perfectly fine narration of 'Hunter’s Heart' by Spencer Spears can’t make up for the hyper-angst that characterizes what otherwise could have been a very good story. Micah and Hunter are both appealing characters, but this is one of those stories that is probably better read than listened to.

We became a real family
Cozy house-playing love story and an adorable kid. What’s not to like?
Micah and Hunter have to raise a child together after their dear friend and her husband passed away in an accident. Micah doesn’t like Hunter but the attraction between them is undeniable. And Hunted is determined to win Micah’s heart and turned their playing-house into a real loving family. With the help of adorable Bea, may be it will become a possibility.
A bit long but sweet and enjoyable nonetheless. Michael Fell also did a good job narrating the story. Overall, it was a good listen.

Micah and Hunter
Hunter's Heart is book 4 in the 8 Million Hearts series. After a tragedy brings Micah and Hunter living together and raising a baby. I really enjoyed this slow burn story as these two beautiful characters deal with their grief, their past, and move towards the future together. I love how it was never a question whether or not they were going to raise the baby together. I've enjoyed this series and definitely recommend it.
Narrator Michael Fell does an amazing job, so much emotion.

Enemies to Lovers
I enjoy stories that involve enemies to lovers, so I wanted to give this one a try. Plus, I like Michael Fell's narration, so it was a win-win for me. I think the story was a little too long, and it dragged in a few places. Overall, I enjoyed the story though. However, I wish it was a little shorter.

Loved it!
I've listened to all the books in this series and enjoyed each of them. In this book Micah finally gets his HEA. He's been a secondary character in the previous books so it's nice to hear his story! That said, though, I think you will still enjoy this book without reading the others. Micah and Hunter have to deal with a lot of preconceived ideas about each other so I really like seeing them struggle to work out their issues. I like that the other characters are present and remain good friends.

decent story
Micah and Hunter share custody and a house after Micah's best friend and Hunter's brother die in a train accident. Forced proximity is normally one of my favorite troupes, but this one felt forced. The story felt too long. Overall this was a decent story but something about the narration felt off. It was my first story done by this narrator, Michael Fell but I didn't feel he matched the story.

Tedious
I'm all for developing character in a slow burn romance, believe me, because I firmly believe that character drives plot and is what makes a story worth reading or listening to. But Lord help me, this one tried my patience, twanging my very LAST nerve! Thanks to Michael Fell for doing his best to make this story more than just a tale of two wannabe adults. Micah is an awful, whiny, judgmental young man (not what I expected from the way he was portrayed in earlier stories unless I'm forgetting things!) and I spent most of the time I was listening wishing I could smack him upside the head. Hunter is better, too busy judging himself to have time to be nasty about other people. The story dragged on and on, as this writer's stories all seem to do, repeating, ad nauseum, ideas and emotions that the characters seem to feel a need to rehearse as though the reader needs to be constantly reminded of exactly how terrible they are, of how horrible their lives are, of how poor they are at communicating their thoughts and feelings.
If I had to choose between them, Hunter would be my favorite, which is faint praise at best. The thing that makes me prefer Hunter to Micah is his devotion to his niece and his determination, despite his poor self-esteem, to do right by her and be the kind of surrogate parent her dead parents knew he could be when they left her guardianship to him and Micah. He doesn’t seem to have mastered the art of self-expression any better than Micah has when it comes to his feelings, though, or to his self-awareness when it comes to emotions. I find this really sad because there is so much potential for him to be a far more engaging and rewarding character than he turns out to be.
Their "romance" was as slow-moving as farm vehicles on a country road, and I didn't feel anything for them or any chemistry between them. They are so clueless about their feelings, either fighting against them or ignorant that they have them for most of the story. Are they barely legal adults or older young men? There's no real way to know unless I missed it when we were told. Either way, they are crushingly immature to me for more than half the book, as are some of their friends. My irritation remained high for the entire story and wasn’t helped by the drama brought by Hunter’s oppressively obnoxious parents or that caused by the inclusion of Micah’s past drama. Maybe this just wasn’t the right time for me to hear this story because their waffling and refusal to communicate and act like grown folk annoyed me endlessly.

So long
OK so the good stuff, this is a great series and this is a well written addition with great developed characters. That being said it's an excruciatingly long listen because the story moves so slowly and honestly gets a little draggy abd repetitive. Then after all that I feel like there was no real resolution or conclusion to any of the points. As for the narration I really don't know what the aim for some of the voices were, for me this might have been better if I read it myself. overall my least favorite of the series.

Love and overcome!
Hunter and Mica have both been through some serious shit, and one more loss on top of that sends them into a tailspin. At the same time they're left with joint custody of a baby. Sorting their feelings out and getting life back up and running is no small matter, and they cope with it all in completely different ways. What they do have in common is a kind heart, and their love for Bea. I felt so warm and touched, listening to the slow struggle towards mutual understanding and a better future together. I generally get annoyed with characters who continually misinterpret the intentions of others, but Spencer Spears makes those twists both understandable and relatable. And the reciprocal understanding they slowly arrive at is so sweet and satisfying! Looking forward to the next book by this author!
Michael Fell did a rock solid job as always, good choice!

Freakin awesome
I absolutely adored this story! It had so many elements that came together to create a wonderful experience. I laughed, i swooned and I even cried. The narrator did a really good job in this story bringing life to the characters and their lives. He read it all with so much emotion and dedication to mannerisms and tone! Excellent audiobook

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

so many emotions
Such a powerful fully immersive read. so much depth to both Micah and Hunter. Each with their own troubles, past traumas and differences, they finally break through their misgivings and false starts to find the person they'd each been looking for all along. While that's a corny sentence, Spencer has created a deep, full story with all the harsh pains of life and all the challenging joys of finding love. I loved this journey and getting to know these characters both as individuals and then together. I loved the exploration, growth and healing each went through to find their place together. I've loved all these stories and look forward to finding out more about Nick up next 😍

Wonderful addition to the series!
I am a huge fan of this series, so having the opportunity to hear the wonderful narration of It made by Mr Fell was a treat. This amazing enemies-to-lovers, love story about how Micah and Hunter got their forever, is an easy to read low angst audiobook, just perfect to spend a nice time while hearing it. The book can be read as standalone but I'd suggest that if you enjoyed It, you are going to enjoy the rest of the books just as much. Loved It!

Hunter’s Heart
I love a good enemy to lovers story, and the premise for this is so good. Overall, it is a good listen/story. My biggest complaint is that it's long. I think it could benefit from a bit more editing to condense the book a bit. That being said, it was still an enjoyable read and listen. Michael Fell did a good job with the narration. It lagged in bits, but that was probably more the length than anything.

Another great story and wonderful performance
My first exposure to Michael Fell's audio performances was the first book in this series, Adam's Song and it was amazing. I've followed the series since then avidly in both print and audio format. This entry is another winner. Hunter and Micah are thrown together after an awful tragedy and initially, they try to make the best of it without revealing who they really are and how they really feel about each other. In the close confines and stresses of living together and trying to raise a baby, all secrets are revealed and both men must deal with the darkness in their past. As always in this series, the find they can best deal with that by being honest and building a life together. This is a book that is at various times, heartbreaking, warm, and sexy and Fell's performance captures the total range of emotions.

Absolutely Incredible
Hunter's Heart was an incredible audiobook to listen to. There was so much tragedy, pain, loss, friendship, hope, and love. What happened to Micah broke my heart, especially Ax's attitude toward him afterwards (in the present). If he wasn't remorseful, at least he could have kept his mouth shut! For Micah to lose his career AND blame himself for everything made me furious. At least he had friends like Gray and Nick, found love, and everything came to rights for him in the end. I found Hunter's story, when it finally came out, a little less compelling, but he eventually found his strength, love, and recovery, too. His friends Brandon and Pete were great. I loved the humor they brought to the story. Overall, I just loved this story, and it is my favorite by far in this series (so far). I still hope Nick's tale will be forthcoming sometime. I found this book to be be tight and compact, unlike some of the previous books, and I never came to any point where I thought it was slow or dragging.
The narration was great and really captured the emotional impact of events that were happening.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Hunter’s Heart
Hunter’s Heart is Book 4 in the 8 Million Heart s series by Spencer Spears and can definitely be listened to as a stand-alone but I would recommend the three preceding books highly.
All the books in this series are long listens but don’t let that put you off, for some reason at no point did I feel they where dragging or repetitive, and this was no exception with Hunter’s Heart story line flowing smoothly.
Spencer writes Hunter’s and Micha’s characters with depth and emotion.
I am really looking forward to Nick’s story.
