Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn't for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even have seen her die. In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig "Vig" Rundstrom has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera.

Story
Growing up on the tough Philly streets, Gwen O'Neill has learned how to fend for herself. But what is she supposed to do with a nice, suburban Jersey boy in the form of a massive Grizzly shifter? Especially one with a rather unhealthy fetish for honey, moose, and…uh…well, her. Yet despite his menacing ursine growl and four-inch claws, Gwen finds Lachlan "Lock" MacRyrie cute and really sweet. He actually watches out for her, protects her, and unlike the rest of her out-of-control family manages not to morbidly embarrass her.

Story
It's not always easy being a female warrior with a nickname like Annwyl the Bloody. Men tend to either cower in fear-a lot-or else salute. It's true that Annwyl has a knack for decapitating legions of her ruthless brother's soldiers without pausing for breath. But just once it would be nice to be able to really talk to a man - the way she can talk to Fearghus the Destroyer. Too bad that Fearghus is a dragon, of the large, scaly, and deadly type.

Story
Gemma Smythe dedicated her life to the glory of battle. With her fellow War Monks, she worshipped the war gods, rained destruction on her enemies, and raised the dead when the fancy struck. Until her sister Keeley became the prophesied Blacksmith Queen, and Gemma broke faith with her order to journey to the Amichai Mountain and fight by Keeley's side. The Amichai warriors are an unruly, never-to-be-tamed lot, especially their leader-in-waiting, Quinn. But when the War Monks declare support for Gemma's ruthless sister Beatrix, the immaturity of her key ally's the least of her problems.

In a world of darkness where royal vampires are in charge, I spend my days working as a knight in the city formerly known as London. Instead of a lance and a horse, I rely on my trusty axe, Babe, and ride the occasional dragon. Every day, new threats emerge that require a dash of magic and a dollop of attitude. Naturally, danger comes with the territory. What no one knows is just how dangerous it is for me. If our vampire overlords discover what I am, they’ll execute me on the spot — no questions asked — which is why I avoid them at all costs. Until now.

As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. Publisher's Summary
Neecy Lawrence, winged warrior for a Viking goddess and second-in-command of the fierce Crows, doesn't know what to do with a nice guy. As it is, making up for a past she'd sooner forget leaves her barely polite most days. But Raven leader and loyal Odin warrior, Will Yager, isn't just nice. He's gorgeous, hot, and a distraction she simply can't afford.
Yager has wanted Neecy in his life - and in his bed - for a long time. Not just for a night, but forever. And, like any self-respecting Viking, he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants. So what if she's the most difficult, complex, never-gives-him-a-break woman he's ever known? She's more than worth the effort. In fact, she's worth everything.
And if it turns out that 24 hours of non-stop, any-way-she-wants-it sex doesn't work with Neecy? Then it looks like he'll just have to get a little more creative.

Another great INCLUSIVE bwwm paranormal love story
Shelly Laurenston does another excellent job with writing diverse, inclusive paranormal stories. Her stories ALWAYS have characters (main & supporting) with different skin colors, ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations & various age ranges ( females not all under 30 or for breeding) I give loud applause to the snarky comments, witty one liners & great drama with wonderful fight scenes. Shelly Laurenston stories are Always a great choice for the money/credit.. thumbs way up.. I wish more paranormal female writers wrote characters similar to THEIR own age & surround their story characters with diverse LOOKING individuals . Can't older females have Adventures & lovers also????? Erotica stories don't ALWAYS be for females that can have or want children . Older female warriors with various skin tones can have kinky & exciting diverse SEX & love interest just like the majority of the readers & audible listeners (want to have). hint hint.. Great job S.L. MORE PLEASE .. Loyal fan.. ME

Just so it's clear, this is a scrapped series
Everyone keeps going on about how the Call of the Crows is a better series but this story is the reason that it exists. She did research wrote this and decided she wasn't happy with it. Laurenston wanted better for her fans and rewrote what is now the Crows series. The only reason this is an audio is because collector and completists asked for it.
I liked the story but I agree it was too similar to her shifter series to be called "new". Stop whining about how someone's older work isn't as good as the new stuff. That's a good thing. It meant the author grew! If you just want a fun time killer this is it.

Sass and Crass.
As usual Shelly Laurenston has plenty of quirky characters and a lot of fun and mayhem happening in her book. Not sure why she decided to start a spin-off of the Crow's series when she only has two books out from that series, which I recommend reading those first before this book. It gives a better view of the world SK has built. This book was good and it passed the time quickly but I will admit that Neecy kinda drove me crazy with her always running from Yager. I would have liked there to have been a little bit more chase in the romance before jumping into bed, and not so much after. There is also a lack of story line concerning the bad guys and what exactly they were after, maybe it will lead up to more in the next book, but in this book it is a very thin plot. This book works good as a fantasy romance but not so much as an action/adventure. Since SK is an automatic download for me I look forward to her next addition to this series and hopefully more pride stories. I liked the narrator her Jersey accent wasn't to obnoxious.

STOP!! BY THE BOOK!! SAVE UR $$$
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Shelly Laurenston's books; but after 20mins into this narration l had to stop!! This narrator's voice is perfect for "Curious George" type books that you take your kids to public library for storytime or as a the sugary sweet lady none of the kids really like in Sunday school. She COULD NOT even make it as elementary school librarian or 2nd grade teacher because her sickly sweet voice is all super monotoned, and as a veteran elementary teacher myself, I can honestly say would drive the students into boredom rages of misbehavior.
I just automatically bought the book, l mean why not? Shelly's stories rock! l owned half in long before l got addicted to Audible, & then purchased all of them on Audible because narration in other series was FANTASTIC!! I have DEFINITELY learned my lesson!! What a sorry waste of a credit/ $, especially since I'll be buying this book on kindle or from bookstore. [** For the skeptics ** After my 20 mins of narration torture & before completely giving up all hope of making it through the so-so & not-so good audio because some books are worth trudging though -- I jumped ahead & listened to other parts throughout the novel in hopes of finding some redeeming anything to the narration, but alas dear fellow Horatio readers/listeners who live for Audible.....there wasn't.**]
TRUST ME, SKIP THIS AUDIBLE!!!!!

Disappointed
I really enjoyed the other two books set in this universe. They were well plotted, written, and enjoyable. This book had poor transitions between sections, poor editing, lackluster romance. The sex scenes were too descriptive and not particularly enjoyable. I felt like I was in a sex ed class with teens who got off on saying "pussy". In fact I stopped counting after the word "pussy" was used 15 times. It felt like an outline with poorly written sex scenes. There are a few likable characters and plot potentials but overall not realized in this book. I wish I hadn't read this one as the other two books really were worth a read. This one I wish I hadn't purchased.

She's written better.
The characters were a bit flat, especially after being a fan of her shifter books.
This title is lacking the thing I loved about her other titles, a diverse cast of over the top personalities with clashing characters and psychological issues.
Finally, if the narrator had been replaced by a dining room chair the delivery might have been a little less wooden.

The narrator completely ruined it
Let me preface this by stating that I LOVE Shelly Laurenston. I've listened to the entire Pride series as well as Call of the Crows on Audible, and this is the FIRST of her books where the narrator completely ruined the entire book for me. Her inability to differentiate between characters and the fact that her male characters, especially the hero sounds like a nasely and weak, dork. Ugh!! It took me forever to get through this book, when normally I binge listen her books. And lets not even get started how the guy on the cover doesn't even match the description of what Will is supposed to look like *face palm*
Narrator aside, this was a decent continuation of Laurenston's Crow series. You have the wit and action of her feisty, kick @ss Crows and the signature humor that I love about Laurenston.
