Publisher's Summary

Do you feel all the feels - all the time? Are you fed up with the mainstream spiritual "love and light" scene that calls for constant positivity, even in the face of true loss, trauma, and pain? If so, this book is for you.

I Don’t Want to Be an Empath Anymore is a gift for the jaded empath searching for authenticity in spirituality, and spirituality in being authentic - something beyond the clichéd, positive affirmations that seem to invalidate our anger, sadness, and pain. When we feel broken - and when real damage has been done, it’s not always helpful to ignore our feelings and tell ourselves that we are perfect and whole.

In this refreshingly honest guide, shamanic practitioner Ora North offers practical exercises to help you navigate your intuition and empathic sensitivities, create much-needed boundaries, and build confidence. You’ll also learn to balance your emotions and energy, and harness the strength of your shadow side to embrace your whole self and live your best life.

Like the Japanese craft known as Kintsugi - the art of repairing broken pottery using a lacquer dusted with powdered gold - the process of acknowledging and repairing our fragmented selves can make us even more beautiful than before, cracks and all. In this book, you won’t find platitudes or attempts to whitewash your experiences. What you will find are real, practical tools and guidance to help you make the most of your unique abilities.

Good Stuff! Wish I Found This Earlier In Life!!

90% of this book was of great value to me. Just remember to actually DO the exercises and periodically review the notes you take while reading. If you're an empath, GET THIS BOOK. The End.

Changed the way I see myself and confront the world.

This book is so precious to me. It was enlightening, comforting, life-changing. I went through quite a strange state after reading this boo, realizing that my empathy and sensitivity are not a weakness. This book offers powerful exercises and advice. I appreciate how raw the work is, how it brings down the idea of “being positive” or “happy” without confronting what’s happening or our past.

I’m a very nonspiritual person, so I had to let go of some of the ideas there on the epilogue, but still, this book worked wonders for me.

I recommend anyone who’s feeling more than other people seem to feel to listen to this book.

Thank you, Ora. You brought me light, as your name (in Hebrew) suggests.

Narration ruined the message for me

There were definitely some gems of observations and realizations shared by the author’s insight. For me though, the woman narrating made this incredibly difficult to fully integrate into my deeper knowing. She often came across as self-righteous, angry, and judgmental. I understand that a little anger is needed to motivate one (especially those of us that are profoundly empathetic) to get up out of the swamp of self-loathing, people pleasing, and existential frustration to a place of deep self-love, courage, and strength. I own and love my shadowy depths as well as my sparkling light and believe balance in all is key. I have no desire to dwell in anger, or to act like I know it all. Anywho…listen if you feel called. Perhaps just not for me, or better read as print version? My least favorite audio performance to date.

Great info!

Very helpful, great tips and tricks. I love the 'do the work' sections...... but as I've seen in some other reviews the performance/narration could have been better. It did seem a bit forceful.... however, not forceful enough to prevent me from listening to it. I will definitely be keeping this in my library and referring to it regularly.

Wonderful, with an eh narration

Amazing book. Trauma-aware energy work? Yes! I'm so glad I listened. The narrator sounds a little too intense or sarcastic at times which was a little off-putting.

I finally understand mysef

I have spent 40+ years feeling that there is something wrong with me. This book opened my eyes and made me realize I am gifted not cursed. I was able to forgive everyone who ever hurt me by not validating my feelings because now I know they just did not understand I cannot change who I am. I feel free and liberated and so very thankful.
Anyone who ever thought they feel too much emotion or they were not socially normal because they were too sensitive has to read this book.

changed my life

I was struggling with deep depression and lost my relationship to it and I really hated being an empath because of all the feelings. this has produced more progress on my journey than anything I've ever done and recommend it to everyone.

A must for any exhausted empath!

I absolutely love this book! I found it so refreshing, honest and insightful.
I love the way the author explorers the shadow side of our personality, those dark parts that empaths are not generally known for. It is exhausting soaking up energy all the time and without self care, it is easy to find ourselves overwhelmed which is not good for anyone.
I am not a fan of self help books normally but this is different. It avoids the meaningless positive thinking and encouges you to really get to know your feelings, even the unpleasant ones, and to validate them. I have started using the exercises and they have an almost spiritual quality to the depth of self awareness they enable. Particularly in terms of identifying your own emotions in order to separate them from those of others.
I have ordered a paper copy of the book too for ease of use, however I found the reader on audible authentic and easy to listen to.

pseudoscientific nonsense

I gave it a chance but had to abort quickly. Such pseudoscientific self help books shouldn't be legal.

Fantastic book

Fantastic book, just what I needed to help me make sense of the world around me, learn about myself and create a solid foundation on which to build a new life going forward.

Have ordered the paperback in order to better access the 'Work To Do' sections of the chapters.

Thank you Ora North for writing this book!
