Publisher's Summary

From the cocreator and costar of the hit series Broad City, a hilarious and poignant collection about love, loss, work, comedy and figuring out who you really are when you thought you already knew.

When Abbi Jacobson announced to friends and acquaintances that she planned to drive across the country alone, she was met with lots of questions and opinions: why wasn't she going with friends? Wouldn't it be incredibly lonely? The North route is better! Was it safe for a woman? The Southern route is the way to go! You should bring mace! And a common one...why?

But Abbi had always found comfort in solitude and needed space to step back and hit the reset button. As she spent time in each city and town on her way to Los Angeles, she mulled over the big questions - what do I really want? What is the worst possible scenario in which I could run into my ex? How has the decision to wear my shirts tucked in been pivotal in my adulthood?

In this collection of anecdotes, observations and reflections - all told in the sharp, wildly funny and relatable voice that has endeared Abbi to critics and fans alike - readers will feel like they're in the passenger seat on a fun and ultimately inspiring journey.

broad city fan, loved abbi's book

really loved that the audiobook was narrated by abbi herself. it's a open-hearted confession about love, life, expectations, getting ok with not being ok and embracing yourself through all of this. worthwhile reflections, could relate myself in different levels. thank you, abbi and babbi.

Loved it!

I already loved Abbi & her work, but this made me love her more. The essays are funny, thoughtful & relatable and hearing Abbi read her own words was just perfect, she's a great narrator.

Abbi's inner ramblings

A good one if you love Broad City but it lacks substance. Overall an easy, quick read but wouldn't bother bumpimg it to the top of your reading list.

A modern love story

Abbi Jacobson is a queen and this book beautifully demonstrates her wonders - humour, comfort, honesty, doubt and hope come together in a modern love story about walking life’s meandering road and embracing who you are.

Enjoyed this but quite rambling

I enjoyed listening to this when I was doing chores. It lacked coherency and felt rambly at times but I liked that it didn't require much thought to listen to. Abbi narrates it well, and I preferred this over other audiobooks because it's so causal, but I don't imagine it would have been good to read.

Captivating and cathartic

Jacobson’s vulnerability and honesty was refreshing. The humour and sadness entwined together beautifully telling an immensely personal story that someone managed to reach deep inside my chest and hurt as if the heartbreak had been my own.

Funny, vulnerable and wonderful

Abbi’s book is equal parts blissful storytelling and heart wrenching. By working her way through her journey, she helped me through mine, and I’m sure countless other’s too.

Funny and insightful, hard to follow at times

I am a big fan of Abbi Jacobson's work.
However, due to the nature of the book being short stories/essays, it was easy to feel lost during her storytelling. I believe the audio format didn't suit Abbi's writing - even though she is a fantastic narrator, this would make for a much better 'read' than 'listen'.
