Story
Young Susan has always suspected that her Grandfather was different, as though all the time he spent riding a white horse and wielding a scythe weren't enough of a giveaway. Now that her worst fears have been confirmed, Susan learns that she's expected to take over the family business when she grows up, even though most people mistake her for the Tooth Fairy. But as attractive as Death can be to many people, Susan is drawn into something else.

Story
The stockings are hanging ready, the sherry and pies are waiting by the fireplace - but where is the jolly fat man with his sack? It's not right to find Death creeping down chimneys and trying to say 'Ho ho ho' - but someone's got to bring the little kiddies their presents. Or else they might stop believing. Belief is important in Discworld, particularly on the last night of the year when the time is turning. If the real man in the red suit isn't found by morning, there won't be a morning. Ever again....

Now, suddenly, Discworld is brought to the brink of an all-out thaumaturgical war. The only hope for peace is Rincewind, the failed magician who has a risky plan to save the world. Publisher's Summary
Tiffany Aching, the young witch from The Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky, and Wintersmith is back in a new adventure featuring Discworld characters both familiar to fans (such as Tiffany, the Wee Free Men, Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg) and new (meet Wee Mad Arthur, the Nac Mac Feegle on the City Watch whose only previous appearance was a brief cameo in Feet of Clay, and city witch Mrs Proust - a fabulous Pratchett creation).
Oh, and there's a magic book or two, a twist through time, a Cunning Man - and a Giant Man of chalk....

Perfect Pratchett
I've always loved the Discworld books and this one is no diffrent. The characters are as engaging, funny and, in some cases, mad as ever and the story is one you can really get into. It?s great to see how much Tiffany has grown since the fist time we met her (frying pan in hand) but how she is still very much the same person she?s always been.

Pratchett at his best
I love Terry's Pratchett's books and over the years I can only conclude that he is getting better ! I Shall Wear Midnight is a beautifully written narrative of a young witch finding her way in life and coping with the difficulties of relationships, responsibilities and the inevitable numerous meetings with Death. The book made me laugh and cry, and I listened to it twice - back to back - as I was sure that the second hearing would add even more colour - which it did. The chapters were the right length for me on my 30min commute. Highly recommended - a great listen.

I love the witchy books best of all
Although a total fan of Terry Pratchett, I do like his 'Witch' books best of all. This one, featuring Tiffany Aching is delightful. One thing I DO like about Terry Pratchett's writing, is that he is obvious a VERY sensible man, and his take on life is so logical. He makes fun of the daft inconsistencies of our world.
I do like Stephen Briggs best of the readers who narrate the unabridged Pratchetts, this, too, makes a difference to the listening enjoyment.
A jolly good use of a valuable credit.

A Pterry goodie
A good book to end the series, darker in nature than the other three but Tiffany has grown up and it shows, shame to see it end as collectively they have all been good, but that I suppose is a matter of opinion.
And the narration by Stephen Briggs brilliant as usual, with the range of character voices he uses you would not think it is the same person.

So relevant
It is a sign of proper art that these human issues are always relevant. Terry Pratchett was one of the best observers and translators of human weirdness and I wish everyone would read his work. The performance was very sensitive to the text and brought the story to life.

Hmmmmm
I read this book when it came out, to be honest I have always been a Pratchett fan but lately his works have just been fleshed out with too much homespun philosophy and not enough story, the "its all about bieng witchy and proud" angle is all very well but gets a bit tedious after a while, I bought this because I had only read the book once and thought maybe I could get more from an audio version, I am sure Stephen Briggs is a fine narrator, but his accents are bloody awful, he made the Feegles sound like a bunch of whiny girls, whereas in my mind they were pure Glaswegian bravado, which make them funnier somehow, I think I will stick to re-reading Pratchetts earlier works, when you were left to find the message for yourself.

I Shall Wear Midnight
What an absolutely charming book! After setting my task to devour all or TPratchett’s Discworld series; I, by misfortune came to Tiffany Aching and her adventures, only after I’d read nearly all of the rest of the Series.
I Shall Wear Midnight was my first Tiffany Aching book- accidentally read out of order… but *Such* an enjoyable little tale, that a) I only wish I’d met her sooner; & b) I can’t wait to go back to “her” beginning, and start reading!
I can’t recommend this book highly enough. It’s TPratchett at his best. A YA book; with all the smartest bits for adults. And a cast of new and you very oldest favourites!
And what a beautifully gorgeous title, just to “show off” his lovely cleverness!

Terry Pratchett rules forever
What did you like most about I Shall Wear Midnight?
Love this series, love the discworld and the philosophy behind the stories.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Who couldn't love the Nac Mac Feegle.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Somehow i just have the hardest time with the audio as its a book about a wee lass and its read by a not wee man sigh this for me was a disapointment as I love Stephen Briggs reading Terry, he is so amazing at it, he's just no Tiffany Aching sigh, and its so hard to write such a negative thing about this book, this series, this narrator.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
If these books (yes these cause if you can read only one and leave them there you wouldn't be reading this review anyway) don't make you at least smirk in a knowing way Terry Pratchett isn't for you.
Any additional comments?
Loved it.
