Story
This anthology of Kipling's most famous poems - including "If", "Mandalay", "Gunga Din" - is taken from Naxos AudioBooks' Great Poets series. Though sometimes still regarded as a product of the colonial era, Kipling touches a very popular nerve in Britain's literary tradition and is regarded more generously now as a master of popular verse. It is often forgotten that he won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907.

One of our best-loved actors, Michael Caine has starred in over 100 films in his six-decade career, spanning classic movies like Alfie, Zulu, and The Italian Job (the inspiration for the book title) to playing Alfred opposite Christian Bale's Batman in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster Dark Knight trilogy. Caine has excelled in every kind of role - with a skill that's made it look easy. As he says, "Small parts can lead to big things. And if you keep doing things right, the stars will align when you least expect it."

Story
Aesop, an ancient Greek poet who was sold into slavery in the early sixth century B.C, relied on animal stories to convey his key points to his masters in court. Aesop's Fables are now classic, memorable morality plays in which amusing animal characters drive home thought-provoking morals to generations of listeners and modern day readers. They illustrate what was fundamental to Greek culture yet their appeal lies in logic we still understand.

If. Poem by Rudyard Kipling
Rudyard Kipling plainly and with great insight describes what masculinity really is, He has a skill at succinctness and plain talking. I printed this poem up and gave it to my son when he was young. He still has the poem.

Timeless Wisdom and Words to Live With
A classic in all respects, having both a great narrator and written content. And though IF is presented as if speaking to one's own son, or rather hearing the words as a son from a parent, the questions offered within (and the wisdom found in seeking to affirmatively answer them) is applicable to anyone who wants to take it. Likewise Michael Caine provides an incredible session to listen to. Naturally given with a voice towards this type of content in my opinion, but also providing great pacing to digest the words as they come and subtle inflection changes to drive them home all the same.
