Publisher's Summary

Every great romance comes with a risk...

After a duke's betrayal, the resilient Sarah Forrester reinvents herself as the Golden Lady: Society's leading light, the beautiful and witty life of the party. It's all a facade of course - one that protects her from another intimate disloyalty. When her old friend, Lieutenant Jackson Fletcher, returns to London, he is determined to rediscover the true and trusting Sarah he once knew. It'll take more than a kiss and a promise. It might even call for an innocent and necessary deception.

Then Jackson is enlisted to help capture the lead suspect in a murder - a man who happens to be Sarah's most ardent suitor. Jack must continue the deception, and weathering this newest and gravest betrayal will be Sarah's ultimate test. But as Jack's passion for her grows, he must also reveal his own secrets. And as the killer turns his attention to his pursuers, more than love and trust is put at risk.

Can’t get enough

This series is just amazing and probably the best narrator I’ve experienced. This is book 4 and I’m overjoyed when I heard there’s a book five. You’ll love this series!

Needs to be a Miniseries !

Cross Jack Ryan with Bridgerton and you get the Blue Raven Series. Someone needs to call Prime and get that deal going😉.
Yet another good story in this series!

Delightful

Kate Noble is an exceptionally gifted writer and this series is one not to be missed. Her style is perfected and descriptive, and can be compared to some of the greatest names in romantic literature. Her characters are memorable, and their dialogue is non-contrived and believably consistent. The series continuity is flawless and engaging. Her stories have substance and the romance is woven into the overall tapestry rather than being the main event. The heroes are swoon worthy, and the heroines are relatable and daring. It is difficult to believe she is a modern author, and didn’t live among the ton, because she knows the subject nuances and presents historical facts accurately.

Alison Larkin is outstanding as narrator. She brings the story to vivid life and is very pleasant to listen to.

Could barely finish skipping a lot of parts!

The narrator’s accent or voice was frustrating. The story was too dull. Would not recommend…

Just TOO Long

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you like the story to be drawn out for a LONG time.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kate Noble again?

Probably not. This is my 2nd try, and it isn't emotionally compelling enough. Too much repetition.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alison Larkin?

She wasn't the problem.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The characters were strong. The plot just needed to move more. I couldn't get past the half way point. It was just too slow.

Adventure ensues.

Sara has remade herself, in order to rise above the pain and gossip after having had her engagement and heart broken. Her childhood friend Jack, back from sea now wants to help her renew her adventurous side. Little do they know how dangerous that can be.

Okay story and excellent narration!

This is the second time listening to this series. I love this narrator! The author is a great story teller, minus the sexual content, which I always skip. Thankfully the scene(s) are brief and have no bearing on the story. This particular book in the series is good but not my favorite, however, still worth the read/listen.

Not bad

This book wasn't bad. The beginning was sad, but I liked the way the heron handled the situation.

Ok

I liked this one better than book number three. It could have been a little bit shorter but it was ok.

SO BAD!

God, this is JUST terrible!!! I had to stop listening with over 10 hours left because the story is just so MINDNUMBINGLY BORING!! The narrator is great, I loved her reading Anne Gracie’s Bride series but WOW is she not even able to make this book bearable. I completely zoned out for the intro chapter about the lead male (Jack/Jackson) because it was just the worst, painfully boring description of sea life and who knows what else that I’ve ever heard! And there’s way too much of the same sentiments being relayed over and over regarding his feelings about the main female (Sarah) and how he clearly doesn’t think highly of her because she’s acting like a B, but it’s obvious that they will end up falling for each other, no doubt inexplicably, but I cannot listen any longer to wait to hear how it happens and quite frankly the story is so bad right now that I really could care less. I may try this author again because she’s had such positive reviews but woof—I hope her other books are much better!
