Cases like Chris Brown's assault on pop star Rihanna showed an ugly side of adolescent life. However, Queen Latifah has always been a shining example of a woman happy with herself and unwilling to compromise to fit into the "hollywood ideal" of what a confident beautiful woman should look like.

Best 7 Hours Listening to an Audio Book Ever!

Publisher's Summary
From the provocative and hilarious EGOT winner, best-selling author, and host of The View, Whoopi Goldberg, comes the perfect antidote to all those outdated relationship advice books in the world, weighing in on why marriage isn't for everybody, and how the life you want shouldn't be the life everyone else expects you to have.
Whoopi Goldberg has been an electrifying, envelope-pushing public figure of many stripes: Acclaimed actor, comedienne, singer, songwriter, author, political activist, and talk show host. Now, Whoopi will speak openly about why marriage isn't for everyone, how being alone can be satisfying, and how what's most important is understanding who you are and what makes you happy. Wise, funny, and conversation-starting, Whoopi's message is sure to resonate with the millions of people who struggle with relationships every day.
Goldberg says: "I get to hear from a lot of different people about relationships and this got me trying to figure out why the divorce rate is so high. It occurred to me that as one who has done it badly often, I might have some insight. It's hard to really know the other person's agenda, but if someone says "you complete me"...run"!

Remind me of her long ago solo stand up routines!
What made the experience of listening to If Someone Says "You Complete Me," RUN! the most enjoyable?
The best part of listening to this is that it was narrated by the author.
What does Whoopi Goldberg bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voice of Whoopie!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
LMAO throughout the entire book.
Any additional comments?
So many of the views expressed by Whoopie hit very close to home for me. She discusses her three marriages and why she married and why she got divorced. She tells people to make a list, write it down so you'll remember it when you're in the throes of a new relationship. Just five wants and five not wants in someone and then stick to it.
But besides all that Whoopie is just plain funny and I would probably laugh my way through anything she were to write and narrate herself.
I got to meet her a few years ago and she is the same person off stage that she is on, unless she is always acting when meeting people.
Anyway this book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
If you read this review soon after it was written (9/14/17), the book is currently on sale for $4.95 and for that price it's a must have!
If you found this review helpful please indicate so.
Thank You.

You must listen to this wisdom! !!
This was so good, I listened all the way through. I love Whoopi!!! I was sad when it was over because it was so informative, real and honest. She tells the truth, there is not one person that would not benefit from the advice she gives. I got so much, I feel new and ready to start fresh with a new perspective. She will make you think, make you laugh and make think some more. I will probably listen to this again and again bc it's so much to gain. I recommend grabbing a pen and paper. Take notes!

delightful
I guess this could be classified as a self help book; if so, it is not typical of the genre. This is my first book by Whoopi Goldberg and she narrated it herself. I was unaware that Whoopi has written a number of books. The book is about relationships. Whoopi says she hopes that readers won’t make the same mistakes she did or have to learn the hard way why a relationship is not working. She also says people should have a prenup so everyone is on the same page about finances.
The information is common sense but Whoopi is very frank and hilarious. I think she is a great story teller and a fantastic narrator. I hope in the future she does more narration of books, she is a natural. I also learned that Whoopi is a big fan of audiobooks and is a regular listener. This make a great fun book to listen to and I laughed throughout the book. This is a short book at a little over four hours.

What did you love best about If Someone Says "You Complete Me," RUN!?
I didn't really love anything about the book...Other then the narration done by Whoopi. Don't get me wrong I liked it I just didn't love it.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I chuckled in a few places.
Any additional comments?
Seriously believe the title, because this book is really about relationships. So if you're looking for funny Whoopi ( although she does have her moments ) I'd keep looking. Now if you are interested in what Ms Goldberg has to say on relationships, this is the book for you.

Thanks, Whoopi!
If you could sum up If Someone Says "You Complete Me," RUN! in three words, what would they be?
Open, honest and humorous.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Whoopi, of course, though "character" doesn't apply here except that most of this book is a revelation of her own character, her own insights.
What about Whoopi Goldberg’s performance did you like?
Loved Whoopi from the first time I saw her perform. She is a genuine, down to earth gal, and funny as heck. Whoopi's big heart and sharp mind come across clear as sunshine, as she narrates her thoughts on relationships. As I listened, I felt like Whoopi was talking to me, not reading aloud. Great job, Whoopi!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
This book isn't movie material. It could be filmed as a course of study. I'd use the same title that Whoopi gave to her book.
Any additional comments?
I have reached the point in my own life where being single is something that I celebrate. Whoopi, in her own way and for her own reasons, has come to a similar conclusion. But there is a whole lot more in this book than Whoopi's satisfaction with living on her own. She has learned a great deal from her own decades of experiences, and more from observing the lives of others. I appreciated Whoopi's honest, open approach to the topics in her book. I also appreciated her acceptance of people's differences when it comes to what they need, what they want, and what they are willing to give when it comes to relationships. And, of course, the narrator was the perfect choice! I soaked up this book quickly and am already halfway through my second listen. This has been one of my most enjoyable, thought-provoking Audible experiences.

Not for me
DNF at around 75%. Not particularly constructive advice, and moreover, I found it toxic to listen to. It made me really dislike Goldberg, and I realised I didn't respect her or her opinions enough to finish the book. I didn't find it at all funny - perhaps if you find anger funny, you might like it more.

But ... Repeats wayyyy too many times. Discusses how to deal with relationships as though everything is practical, business like. If it was that easy, there’d be no broken hearts, we’d all be Robots.

Fun book and amazing performance
Whoopi is of course, and amazing narrator, and the book has lots of funny moments. The advice on love is generally good and reasonable. However, I don't think it says enough new information to be worth an entire book. It's quite repetitive at times.

This is a fresh approach to couple relationships.
Whoopi says at the beginning she isn't a psychotherapist and the rest of the book proves that!! She pulls no punches with her opinions, and I found her no-nonsense common sense approach very agreeable.
And of course she is funny!
I think what I like most about this book is hearing the genuiness in Whoopi's voice. This sometimes shows in her incredulousness at how generally people believe and behave when it comes to coupling, her honesty held opinions of how we, unless we are severely adapted, inevitably revert to being 'ourselves' after that honeymoom period, and how her laughter bubbles through her words when she's talking about those well held beliefs that need little scrutiny to reveal what nonsense they really are.
Plus, I, as a singleton who feels socially bound to date, am going to give it a joyous rest for a while now and feel okay about it. Phew!
