The first entry in Leslie Stewart's diary read: "Dear Diary; This morning I met the man I am going to marry." It was simple, optimistic statement, without the slightest portent of the dramatic chain of events that was about to occur. The Best Laid Plans takes listeners inside two of America's most powerful and ruthless institutions: the world of politics with it's scandals, corruption, and cover-ups; and that of newspaper publishing, where it is not unusual to use the power of the press to destroy lives - or bring down heads of state - in pursuit of a story or to settle a score.

Top Notch Novel, Great Author, Awful Narrator
Where does If Tomorrow Comes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As an audiobook, it would be in the bottom of rankings due to the horrible narrator. As a book, it ranks among the highest on my list of favorite novels. It's been a favorite of mine since childhood; I've read the book several times and also love the miniseries.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the cons and scams run by both Tracy Whitney and Jeff Stevens. It was fun trying to figure out how they would outsmart the police--and each other--or get away with seemingly impossible heists. Sheldon always kept you guessing and entertained up to the last page.
What didn’t you like about Nancy La Scala’s performance?
It seemed as though the narrator phoned in her performance and hadn't bothered to even look at the book before reading it aloud. When she wasn't monotone (which was for the majority of the book) she added inflections in all the wrong places. Her accents were atrocious, which is shameful for a story that spans multiple countries with a heroine who is supposed to be fluent in several languages and able to imitate any accent. The narrator constantly mispronounced words, which I could've let slide, but it was incredibly distracting that in a book about jewel thieves, she could never manage to say "jewelry" correctly.
It was heartbreaking to hear such a beloved novel butchered in this fashion. If it weren't for the fact that I love the book so much, I would have stopped listening after the first chapter.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Whoever said crime doesn't pay wasn't keeping an eye on their wallet.

Very entertaining.
The beginning was depressing. A lot of bad things happen to Tracy in jail. I was disappointed with the stupid things she did that landed her in jail. But after she got out of jail, the book really took off and was enjoyable. My favorite part was the way Tracy got revenge against mafia guys. After that I enjoyed watching her plan and pull off con jobs and thefts.
The audiobook narrator Nancy LaScala was good in parts, but not good in some ways. Sometimes her general narration voice was too wooden, not engaging and interesting. And sometimes she spoke too fast like she was in a hurry.

Great story diminished by the narrator’s attempts at accents
Typical to Sidney Sheldon, the storyline is great with many twists and turns, however, the story requires many different accents. There is not one accent that is done well by the narrator. The ridiculous sounding accents are distracting and diminish the story. Many sound like a Saturday Night Live-like rendition of Rocky Balboa. Even so…a really good story.

My Favorite Book of All Time
This is my favorite book ever! I love If Tomorrow Comes. my only issue here is I wasn't very happy with the narrator's portrayal of Jeff Stevens. Jeff's character develops throughout the story, and the narrator didn't express that with her narration. Jeff's voice and accent throughout the story kept him sounding like the uneducated carnie from his teenage years, instead of transforming into the suave, sophisticated gentleman he became.

So happy that this was available on audible, I must have read this book at least a dozen times. Not too sure about the narrator to start with but it did fit once I got used to the American accent. Lots of twists and turns and it never fails to be a good story. A book of revenge and excitement from beginning to end.

One of my favourite books ruined
I’ve never felt the need to rate an audiobook before but the narrator of this was so so mad that I had to. She’s reading it like it’s the last book she’s ever going to read and barely pauses for breath. Yes, I’m aware you can slow it down but that somehow makes her voice more irritating. I loved this book years ago, which is why I gave it 3 stars, but I will never listen to it again. I’ve actually given up halfway through. I’d rather listen to my daughter when she sings with headphones in

Terrible performance, the worst
This is possibly the worst narration in Audible. Scala relies heavily on exaggerated accents, but she hasn't bothered to learn how to pronounce famous names, like Titian or Segovia. It was cringe-making. All this might be forgivable if her English was correct, but she makes so many mistakes, sometime it was a 50/50 guess what she was saying. The rest of the reading was in a boring monotone like a business report.
Sorry Nancy la Scala, but this is really bad.

Great story, reading only fair.
The reader didn't pause when the text required it, spoiling the effect of the well-written story. Accents were OK but pronunciation was often wildly inaccurate! A pity, but the story is really good! Read/download it for sure.
