Publisher's Summary

There was only one way to please her father: Murder his wife....

David Brown was the consummate entrepreneur: a computer wizard and millionaire by age thirty-two. When his beautiful young wife was shot to death as she slept, Brown's fourteen-year-old daughter, Cinnamon, confessed to killing her stepmother. The California courts sentenced her harshly: twenty-four years to life. But in the wake of Cinnamon's murder conviction, thanks in part to two determined lawmen, the twisted private world of David Brown himself unfolded with astonishing clarity—revealing a trail of perverse love, twisted secrets, and evil mind games. A complex and often dangerous investigation suggested a horrifying scenario: Was the seemingly bland David Brown really a stone-cold killer who convinced his own daughter to prove her love by killing for him? A man who turned young women into his own personal slaves, who collected nearly $1 million in insurance money, and married his dead wife's teenage sister, David Brown was a sociopath who would stop at nothing...a deadly charmer who almost got away with everything.

Needs Editing!

Struggled through this due it's unorganized; rambling repetitiveness. A thoroughly edited version would up my rating.

this guy was a piece of work!

David Brown was in love with himeself. and he was a strange man indeed. what he expected others do do (including his own daughter is unbelievable. and his reasoning was so lame too. but he was a real coward and preyed on people weaker than himself--sacraficing anyone and everyone but himself.

I am so glad this book is on audio now that I can read it again.

it is unbelievable.

the reader was great!

awesome book! be prepared for some shocking stuff tho.

Spoiler

Its biographical, and its very mundane take a wild guess of who did it not shocking why did the new York times hype it up so much I dunno. Its click bait I could have just Googled instead of wasting a credit. The author " I can't tell you their address" but at the beginning she's given the address of the house and nonchalantly said it was haunted... um okay... it is very average.

One of the very best Ann Rule books.

What a story… and as always Ann tells it brilliantly. Narration is also an A+!

WAY TOO LONG

Narrator’s male voice is poor but the rest is OK.
The story is very circular and was boring to me. There is an abridged version of this book which would probably be better.
Definitely not worth the credit.
