Is it just me? Am I the only one who’s lonely? Am I the only one without friends?

If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions, Amy Weatherly and Jess Johnston, founders of the widely popular Sister, I Am with You, are raising their hands to say, “Yeah, us too”. And they want to encourage, equip, and reassure you that you have what it takes to build the kind of friendships you want.

I’ll Be There (but I’ll Be Wearing Sweatpants) provides you with the how of cultivating deep relationships in this messy, chaotic, beautiful life. Through Amy and Jess’ wisdom, humor, and confessional stories about the ups and downs of sisterhood, you’ll learn how to:

  • admit you need friends - then go out and find them;
  • dismantle the lies you’ve believed about friendship;
  • love yourself so you can find people who will love you for you;
  • be a good friend even though you can’t be a perfect one;
  • heal from a friend breakup - and find the courage to try again.

It’s time you felt completely accepted as you are - from the top of your messy bun to the tips of your unpedicured toes. Let’s start making friendships a priority - together.

Heavy religious content slightly off-putting

I have enjoyed following Jess and Amy’s “sister I am with you” on Facebook for several years. Many times something would be particularly relevant and helpful, and I would frequently share with my teenage (now young adult) daughter. So I knew Jess and Amy were Christian women . . . However, the content of this book is really relevant for ALL women, not just those who are devout Christians. The overarching Christian references were off putting and preachy (and I am a Christian! Can’t imagine how a woman of another faith - or non-faith - would feel!)
Also, I found the book to be repetitive and a bit much to listen to all at once. Definitely enjoyed the short blog-type writings more.
That said - I still love Jess and Amy and will encourage my daughter to listen :-)

This book was so good!

I enjoyed the book, It had a lot to offer. I felt it was written for me actually. However I didn’t realize I purchased a book with so much religious content. It was a little off putting to me. So just be prepared for that. Other than that I highly recommend this book and the narration is great!

Not what I hoped for

I really wanted to love this book. However, I struggled to get past chapter 2. One of that narrators, (Amy), could be the voice over for a Barbie movie. I found myself struggling to listen to her cheerleader voice.
Admittedly, I’m only on chapter 4. The book is supposed to be about friendship, but I’m hearing a great deal of self improvement things going on. I don’t recommend this book. Sorry

Needed This!

Thank you to Amy and Jessica for reminding me that friendships are possible as adults. After the last 2 years of quarantines your story gave me renewed hope that reaching out to make friends is possible and totally worth it. Great advice!

We all need to listen to this!

I love listening to books read by the author!
This book is exactly what I needed. It’s hard to see we are not on islands of emotional non-support. Be real. Be there. Be there in sweatpants! Love this book so much!

Very Inspirational! So encouraging!

The authors were humble, funny and encouraging. My best friend decided that we should both read this book while she was in Israel far a couple of weeks. She is that friend I waited so long to have! I told her she could never break up with me nor would I breakup with her. Thank you both for bearing your souls so that your listeners can feel normal. Thank you for saying that it is okay for things or mistakes to happen.
P.S. If I ever have a farm, I would totally steal all your farm animal names!

I would love to listen to a book from just Jess

I had never heard of Amy until this book so I was unable to truly gel with her style and I just don’t think I am her audience. I totally loved Jess’s sections though. Intriguing topic

Not for older women

I was hoping this book would be more general as friendships can be hard at any age and for all kinds of reasons.. If you are an older woman this is not the book for us and I wish I was articulate enough to write one. There’s many stories there for us who have perhaps always felt a square peg in a round hole or like me divorced, missing those special girls who died young or moved home in middle age only to try to start again in a new city, its tough - where’s that book about loneliness and isolation for the older crowd?
