Publisher's Summary

Dealing with the aftermath of her husband’s affair has not been easy for Sylvia Blackwell. When she vowed to stay by his side for better or for worse, she never imagined that would mean becoming a parent to Jordan, his troubled teenaged love child. Now, Sylvia is facing a new dilemma that could not only be the final straw that breaks her fragile marriage, but could also shatter her already strained relationship with her sister, Janelle.

Tricia King never suspected there was trouble in her marriage. After all, she couldn’t have asked for a better husband than Titus. He’s everything she expected in a mate: a good provider, a great father, responsible, and supportive. She has no idea something is missing from their relationship until she finds out what he was giving someone else. Hurt and confused, she finds herself being counseled by a most unlikely ally.

Janelle was warned by her sister about the sting of karma and the futility of dating a married man, and she has come face-to-face with the reality of her actions. Her secret relationship with Titus is now open for everyone to see, including the new man in her life, Sherrod. Janelle is now in the center of a battle between the man she loves and the family she’s trying to hold on to.

From the drama-filled imagination of La Jill Hunt comes Imitation of Wife, the continuing tale of two sisters navigating their complicated lives and tumultuous relationships while trying to maintain their bond with one another.

I couldn’t wait for part two, but...

Part one, Midlife crisis was a great book with a cliff hanger that left us all wanting more. I was literally stalking the sequel to that book and when it finally came out I purchased it. I can honestly say I’m disappointed. Part two isn’t even worth the cliff hanger. There are still unresolved pieces from part one and now part two. I just feel like I’m not getting a full story just left hanging. And the narrowest or was terrible, monotone throughout the whole reading... just no...

Developing

Can clearly see that the author is developing the characters for a series of books, however, I would have appreciated a continuum, less a jump from the first book. While the characters are interesting individually, the storyline struggles with relatedness. Hopefully the series will better develop Jordan’s character as her role in this story is the basis of the story itself. I kept hoping for more depth from some of the featured characters, particularly Sylvia, as her character went from bitter and cold to forgiving and embracing without showing any real resemblance of the total emotional journey one would face given this real life scenario. Give her time to heal. Walk us through the stages of grief. Let us relate to this woman whose life has been dealt a great blow. Her husbands character, also not well developed, unrealistic. Jeanelle’s character is just a hot mess. Aunt Connie, relatable. The ending seemed rushed. There are so many scenarios that would have been more befitting and believable for Titus, and for Trisha; definitely not the ones given. Narration is very crucial to successful audial engagement, it missed the mark on this one. Take your time on the next book, make it worth the wait.

Why

So I usually don't agree with the reviews, however I agree with these reviews. This book shouldn't have ended the way it did. It leaves more questions then answers 😕

The Ending?

Tricia is a mess! This chick seriously needs to find her happy place because she gives true meaning to the phrase misery loves company. She’s oblivious to whatever going on around cares about appearances. Titus should have just supported her from afar. He could have had happiness a long time ago. That ending with him was crazy! I’m glad Sylvia was able to express her concerns to her husband. That’s a lot to deal with. It seems like there should be a part 3.

I'm loving the La Jill Hunt novels

I ABSOLUTELY loved the story line. The narrator could've done a better job though. Nonetheless, I'd definitely like to read more from La Jill Hunt
