Blood Heart

"What are you wearing under this dress?" he asked, his mouth brushing hers, the words whisper-soft.

Not what she expected him to say. "E-excuse me?"

His teeth sank into her lower lip, making her yelp. "Focus."

On what? The demon club? The humans dying downstairs? The fact that you're a f--king vampire? Where should I begin?

He sighed, his forehead falling to hers. "Astasiya, we have very little time to sort this before the Conclave. I need you to work with me. Both our lives depend on it. What are you wearing?"

She cleared her throat, her hold on his neck tightening as if needing his support to respond. And maybe she did. This was all a lot to take in. "A, uh, thong," she managed to say. "And a strapless bra." Both black and lacy, but she didn't add that part.

One of his hands drifted from her hair to her waist, then down to her ass. His palm flattened and forced her to arch up into him. A breath hitched in her throat at the feel of his growing arousal.

He's turned on...here...now?

She trembled, the heat of his body seeping into her cool skin, warming her blood. They were standing rather close. And he smelled amazing, as always.

Anywhere else, in the dark, she'd have kissed him.

But here....

"The dress will have to stay, then," he said, the disappointment evident in his voice.

She frowned. "What's wrong with my dress?" It hit her midthigh and clung to her curves. She looked good in it.

He ignored her, his mouth brushing hers in a chaste kiss as his hips pressed firmly into hers.

Definitely aroused.

"You're going to see things tonight that will make you want to scream, but you must remain calm and quiet. Mortals who overreact die, and they die badly."

Whhhhy did I give this a go

I listened to book 2 in the series. It was boring with an insane amount of inner dialogue, but had potential so I figured I'd try this and see if it improved It doesn't.
90% inner monologue. Weak romance. Weak, needy h willing to put herself out there when H isn't.
Boring.
Also, waaaay after meeting h, the H intended on going out for random hookups until she showed up at his door...uninvited...because she's needy and clingy. totally normal to show up at some dudes house to "tell him how you feel with your mouth" after he literally friend zoned you. To you. Like continously tells you that the 2 of you are friends. Yes, you go right to his door, uninvited and pour your heart out to him like some weak needy pathetic DAB.

And DONT EVEN get me started on these authors making all females "virgins". GROWN ass woman who's "never been touched there". grown ass woman who refers to her vag as "there". Because an h being a virgin while Hs are always man whores most certainly makes them worth more than if they were inexperienced virginal pathetic and dependent women. When his friend continously references them "sharing/watching/etc" this DABs inner monologue is questioning "he keeps referencing sharing but to what extent"??!? GTFOH she goes on reminiscing about how she's never done "anything below the waste" . Said friend then approaches her and starts touching her quite seductively, she's not down with it. so what does our nitwit child woman h do?!? Sits there silent and relies on H to stop him.

Female Narrator in book 1 was HORRIBLE

WTF was up with that whiny, breathy, childish, just gai done having sex voice she used?!?!? Her damn male voices SUCKED and her English accent was CRINGE-WORTHY!! Everytime it was her turn to read I I found my eyes 👀 rolling to the back of my hehead... Hell they almost got stustuck...
And "Stass" was dumb as hell! She tried to be all tough when it was time to concede, and she conceded when she should have fought or stuck up for herself! she had so many long ass internal monologues that I was just pulling my hair out! she thought the same thing over and over again! she repeated the same information I mean throughout chapters saying oh my God I should do this what is this way wow I should do this but it's that way..... it was a real struggle to get to her parts!

Now, the male narrator was fantastic and it saved this book from getting a rating of one! he brought those characters to life! Every different accent and voice used was Fantastic and I absolutely loved it! when it was his turn to speak I sat up and paid attention and I really enjoyed it....

This book has real potential... they need to find another female narrator, on who is awake and not having sex while doing her job!! UGH!!

WHO ARE THESE PPL WHO COMMENT ON THESE BOOKS??Do the just set the positive ones out, and toss in a few to make it seem real??AUDIBLE HAS FALLEN OFF... I WILL NO LONGER BUY ANY MORE CREDITS!!! I have a few more books that were previously purchased, I will read those and go to CHIRP, the app is much better!

5 stars and more!

Best series Ever! I wish the 4th book was audible but I'm gonna find it and keep demolishing this series. I'm obsessed with every character and can't wait to see the awesomeness of Aya and I'm guessing other angels to come.

Weird accents and uncomfortable cringing

The first two books were meh but I got through them. One of the narrators tried to do an English accent that made it difficult to understand what he was saying at times - actually horrible. The third book just made me super uncomfortable. A woman who is virginal, unbelievably innocent and a guy making her super uncomfortable all of the time, while she is turned on by him constantly - so gross. I made it to the 19th chapter of the third book before I deleted it. The more I listened the more I cringed. NOT for me.
