There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Publisher's Summary
In a spellbinding new Argeneau novel from New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands, a dangerous rescue is just the beginning of red-hot adventure.
Ever since Domitian Argenis recognized Sarita as his life mate, he's been waiting for the perfect moment to claim her. Those fantasies did not include him being chained to a table in a secret lab or both of them being held hostage by a mad scientist. Somehow, they have to escape.
Sarita has seen some crazy things as a cop, but nothing to rival Domitian. A vampire? Seriously? But his healing ability, his incredible powers, and their mind-blowing physical connection - none of it should be possible, yet her body knows differently. Now, not only do they have to save each other, but other innocent lives are at stake. Failure is not an option, for Sarita intends that Domitian show her exactly what an eternity of pleasure feels like.

What did loyal fans do to deserve this narrator?!?
My wife and I have enjoyed this series from the beginning, first in paperbacks and then in audio books, and to date own the entire collection in audio book format. And to date, most of the narrators of this series have been good to excellent, until today. Our entire listening experience was ruined before we got to the end of the first chapter. This narrator is by far the worst I have ever heard. In what universe did the recording agency ever believe that this narrator did justice to the characters in this book. I would hope that the recording agency would give serious consideration to re-recording this book, utilizing any of the previous narrators in this series other than Julian Durant.

Narrator is Horrible-William Shatner impersonator
Would you try another book from Lynsay Sands and/or Julian Durant?
Love Lynsay Sands books and this series. But this narrator was so bad I could not finish the book... he sounded like a William Shatner impersonator or something. He was NOT good. Took away from an enjoyable book to the point I couldn't listen.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The least - narrator.

Hate it
The female was over the top with her wanting to know it all and wanting to do it all. I know women rights , I am female, but she need to sometime let a man be a man and be still. She got into all that trouble for no reason. I love Lynsay books, but this took the cake. I hated this book and hope she does not write another like this ever.
The story line I hated it to. I Have never been disappointed in her books before. I own almost all of her books. This make me think she did not write this book at all. This book does not deserve any star, but it is a Lynsay Sand book I gave it one.

Sorry Lynsay - First book of yours I didnt like
I have read or listened to all 25 Argeneau books and this is the FIRST one that I was actually counting chapters until it was done. As well as being the first book in the series I rated with less than 4 or 5 stars. So - I am a fan. After chapter 4 I was literally forcing myself to finish each successive chapter, but this book seemed to drag on... and on.... and on.
For me personally, part of the charm of the Argeneau series is the familiar cast of characters that buzz in the background, characters of former books, etc. But this book was -- well -- a deserted island.
I was not endeared to Domitian or Sanita at all, after the first few chapters.
I was mostly annoyed with the whole mad scientist experimenting with humans and animals on a deserted island ( RE: a very famous book by H.G. Wells). I think Lynsay Sands has jumped the shark with this bad-guy. I began to think I was trapped in a bad James Bond movie.
I think Vampires / Immortals are enough -- I don't need other mythical creatures too. I can read C.S. Lewis for that. Though I sense this is all groundwork for a potential spin-off series about characters like Thorn.
Sorry Lynsay, but in my opinion you dropped the ball here. But I am still a fan for me to really-really enjoy 22 out of 25 books is still quite an accomplishment. And this is the first out of 25 books I had to force myself to finish.

Story- a good story extension (narrator-Why?)
Lynsay--I speak to you as a friend and most certainly a fan. I've own and have listened to all of the Argeneau series (audible): Your best narrators were Victoria McGree, Bebe Kaye, and Lisa Larsen. Not Juian Durant! It's like listening to a Saturday Night Live old time radio jokester. Why would you do this to us??????????
As for the story--it is a good extension of the story line.
I know your story has taken you in the direction you are in--but it seems we aren't solving this pathway. We should have had one novel to contain the last 2 to 3 books. We need a new direction and better narrator.
We all have are ups and downs. The story I will say is holding a steady course to the last 2 books. The narrator is a big bomb. Sorry that the truth hurts--but at least you know not to use Juian Durant again.

Unsuitable Narrator
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I'm a huge Lynsay Sands fan. I've read and listened to everyone of her books especially her Argeneau series. In fact, this is the only vampire series I like - most others are too dark. I would recommend this book ONLY to read.
What didn’t you like about Julian Durant’s performance?
This is the first book narrated by Julian Durant I've ever heard. He has a beautiful voice and an EXTREMELY dramatic presentation. There are probably other books he is much more suited to narrate. I sincerely hope this is the last Argeneau book for him. I won't be buying any more!

Brilliant story Awful narrator!!
I love all of Lynsey Sands books, especially the Argeneau series. Immortal unchained was fantastic, with a real twist on her normal stories. I loved it.
The only thing that let it down was Julian Durant, the Narrator. He was bloody awful, seriously. He really put a downer on the experience and enjoyment of the book. He "tries" to do the voice of Quinn a Scottish vampire and he sounded like an Irish Cockney!!!!!
These narrators are meant to be professionals and are paid accordingly so if they are taking on different accents for different characters, you expect them to sound like the country they are portraying. ( i hope that makes sense).
To be honest I was disgusted with Julian Durants performance, and it did take away some of the enjoyment of the book as I found my self concentrating on his voice and not the story, so would have to rewind some of the book. For this reason I have only given this book 4. Stars and that's a first for me with one of Lynsays books.
I just hope that he won't be used again for one of lynsays' books, as I am 100% positive i won't be listening to Mr Durant narrating any books in future.

I was looking forward to this but...
The beginning held promise but to describe someone who had been cut in half as 'awful' was unbelievable! Too much emphasis on lifemate sex when Domitian's friends were being experimented on and the main reason he was there was to save them. Not sure if I can cope with another if the story is going to be sidelined like that.

Great story, strange accents from the narrator
Lynsay Sands has outdone herself with this book. It was a bit slow to start. I've listened to every one of the Argeneau novels and this was probably the most ingenious. Her original premise is great and this bookmahows her fantastic imagination. The island of hybrids, the Mengele-style doctor and the prisonsrs made for an excellent book.
The narration let thos book down though. Isarita's accent half the time sounded Irish. Quinn the Scottish guy sounded like a dodgy Dick Van Dyke cockney and I've no idea what was going on with Victor and Lucien who in all the other books are canadian and English sounding respectively.

The narrator killed this book epic fail !
This is the worst audio performance I’ve heard till date. I’m a fan of Lynsay Sands work and have listened to all of the Argeneau series so far therefore I didn’t even think of listening to the sample before buying this audiobook. The narrator made it sound like I was listening to War of the World’s or Stoker’s Dracula rather than the witty sometimes funny story that Ms. Sands is known for. The voice and accent of the main characters though !! They all sounded like some C grade Spaghetti western baddies from the 60s. Truly it was a nightmare to listen to the whole book. I only preserved because I am fan of the author and I want to finish the series. My suggestion is to avoid this narrator at all costs. I really really hope he doesn’t read any other books in this series. As I said EPIC FAIL.

Immortal Unchained
Another wonderful instalment in the Argeneau series. I love that each story is unique and this is no exception. With Domitian and Sarita the problems they faced stranded on an island and trying to fight their attraction were only the start of their concerns. The start of the story is a little disturbing but highlighted the evil they are up against. A fantastic story and would highly recommend to those who love the Immortals.

the narrator is awful
Would you try another book written by Lynsay Sands or narrated by Julian Durant?
This narrator makes this book sound offensive. He does not tell the story well and overall its difficult to listen to. I have read a number of lynsay sands and enjoyed the story line.
What was most disappointing about Lynsay Sands’s story?
The narrator does not tell the story therefore loses the story for the listener
How could the performance have been better?
